A GM dealer in my area claims that the front hubs are bad on my 2001. I think that they are trying to take me for a one way ride. To begin with, there's no noise in the front. And I also think that I read here that if the front hubs are really bad, the TC & ABS warning lights will be on. And I think I saw that the stability control would be affected. Would all that actually be the case? When I take my hands off the wheel, the car stays straight.....no wandering. I have not jacked up the front & checked for any looseness by shaking the wheel in & out, though.

Really need to get the tires off the ground and check. Remember 12 and 6, in and out.
FWIW, you can have an assembly with a bad speed sensor but a good bearing(TC, ABS lights). You can also have one with a good sensor and a bad bearing(no lights). Both have to be replaced.

Jack her up and give her a shakedown. Both of mine were going bad and one was a little worse than the other, and no lights. I just ordered a Timken set and replaced both

I had the traction control and ABS lights on on my Aurora when my speed sensor went bad in the hub. If the hub itself is bad, but the speed sensor is good, then you shouldn't have any lights on. So theoretically your hub can be bad and not trip any lights, but I would expect some noise out of it if the hub was going bad. Do you have any symptoms that they claim the hub is the cause of, or did you just take it in for a service and they told you your hubs were bad?

Xjsman89......If they didn't say that the hubs were bad, I wouldn't have known anything was wrong. There is no noise. I had bad wheel bearings a long time ago. The noise was loud, and I knew exactly what it was immediately. So would bad hubs make a loud humming noise like bad wheel bearings? I had to take it in for the annual NYS inspection, a PITA if ever there was one.
