I have an 2002 oldsmobile aurora with stock 16" wheels. I recently just brought some (what I thought were 2005 cadillac sts 18") wheels which I thought would fit directly on my car. Well I go to put them on and the don't fit! Now I am $300 down and still don't have any wheels. I was sure they would fit but they don't so I am stuck on taking them back to the guy at and random shop I got them from, or try to sell them. I NEED HELP

Look on the inside of the wheel. Are their any model numbers? Also, how does it not fit? Offset? Lug pattern? Wheel/tire size combo? Need more info

I'm gonna assume you bought the 18"x8" with a 5x120mm bolt pattern. And yes, as you've discovered, those won't fit. You need 5x115s.

Inside the factory wheel should have the bolt pattern and offset.

Inside the factory wheel should have the bolt pattern and offset. Thanks guys, I looked inside the rim for the parts number and found that they are really 2008 cadillac xlr wheels with a 5x120 bolt pattern. In gonna try to take them back to the guy that sold them to me because I swore they came off a cadillac are.

The trick to buying wheels w/o a parts number interchange list (and I don't have one) is either try them on your car there or to know four things.
Lug pattern Back spacing Tire height and width.

I'd add caliper size to the list of things to check. I put '01 Grand Prix wheels on my "classic" and they're a tight squeeze around the larger calipers used on the Aurora. I do like the look of them though. There's a wheel refinishing place close by, so these were in perfect shape when I got them, and I even managed to get a good trade on the old "orange squeezer" wheels that came off.
