If the Olds is ever the central motivating force within a successful trilogy of films, it will be.
In the meantime, if this thing ever actually does get built and sold, the new DMC owes 25% of its profits to Universal...

Since the cars are to be built from leftover parts, would they be 2016 models or 198x models? I wonder if government safety regulations passed since the DMC's original production run would apply. Would the cars have to be modernized in any way or would their hand-built nature and low production numbers exempt them? I remember having similar thoughts several years ago when I watched a TV show where they built a 1969 Camaro convertible entirely from brand new third-party replacement parts, mostly from the Year One catalog.

I heard about this on the radio the other day. Makes me happy as I've always liked the DeLorean. IIRC they will be 2016 models but sold as a kit car or something along those lines to be exempt. I don't believe they need to be modernized from a safety standpoint. They will have new engines, thankfully. I've never driven one but read enough to know they were kinda dogs back in the day.
