When i accelerate I keep hearing a strut type of rattle. On bumpy roads I would think that is what it is but, even on new smooth roads, when I hit the gas hard and engine kicks in I hear that type of noise. Any thoughts on this? When I push up and down on front fenders, absolutely no noise at all. When it is in park and a rev it high, no noise.
Feel free to chime in on this.
Thanks.

This slipped my mind for some reason yesterday but how are the engine and trans mounts looking?

My first thought is also motor/trans mounts... but it could also be a blown strut, which I had. Wouldn't make noise standing still pushing on it, but the slightest bump while driving would make a horrible rattle.

Got mine back Tuesday after having the engine completely resealed. Along with new front struts, strut mounts, poly bushings on front sway bar + links, drive belt and passenger headlamp + foglight housings. Had a bad clunk from the right side took it back and the strut nut wasn't ratcheted down completely. Said thanks and went on my way. Then the left side made noise. Took it back and he tightened the left nut (I had deeze nuts tightened lol). Drove off and it still made noise. Took it back today and the shop owner got in and started quickly gunning it foward and back. It was the motor mounts making the noise. Back into the shop tomorrow she goes...
Luckily where I work does the maintenance for an Enterprise rental place across the street. So I get a great deal. But, I just want my car back *sniff*

motor mounts are also my first guess.
I have had struts fail on me with little visible evidence. Think it was a strut turn plate in what was at the time a 180,000 mile Toronado. I put a used strut in from my 85 Riviera and drove another 90,000 miles.
Motor mounts I can usually see either through rotted rubber or excessive engine movement.
If the mounts look fine and no one sees movement break torquing or going from drive to revers and what not I would do the struts first.
On the good news if your struts are older than 100,000 miles or so you can replace them as as part of regular maintenance and even if they weren't the clunk ride quality should improve.

Well, all mounts seem to be OK. Everything that I thought could be loose or rattling isn't. We are all stumped. It is almost like something flopping around kind of noise but nothing we can find is loose. When you drive it slow and easy, everything is just fine. When you floor it and accelerate hard is when you hear it. nothing in the throttle body I believe is supposed to move so if y'all have any other suggestions, let me know.

There are three trans and one motor mount(unless you have a '99 then two motor mounts and two trans mounts). Sure you checked them all? I'd still bet it is the 'rear' trans mount. Every Classic I have seen has had shot mounts. I have replaced all of mine except the hydraulic trans mount you can see through the driver side wheel well.

Here are pictures of the mounts I purchased from RockAuto. First is the one I'll be fabricating following Sall's excellent walk-through. Second is the insert for the right tranny mount. Last will be the left tranny mount. The first and third ones are huge! A lot bigger than I had thought.

Is this issue fixed? What about your front lower horizontal control arm bushings? I have a clunk also, and my investigations have pointed me in that direction. I purchased new ones, and plan to install them ( among other parts ) on Monday. I will let you know how that turns out. My clunk isn't only when accelerating though, it's kinda random...

Let me know how that goes, was thinking of doing ball joint, bushings, etc. But at that point I'm looking at just swapping the whole control arm as the price and amount of work involved drilling out the ball joint rivets and pressing in/out the new bushings makes it seem like a much better idea.
