Hello, I was driving yesterday and my car was driving well. It started right up, and off on a 80 mile drive I went. Upon my arriving at my destination, I waited 10-15 minutes while going into my destination. Once I came out, and went to my car it was acting up. I am able to get it to start but not to stay running at idle. I can seem to only keep the car running while giving it gas. I am not sure what the problem is but I wanted some input on the best place to start? Anything would be appreciated, as I can't even get my car out of park to reverse to move it. -Michael

sounds like a TPS. most common issue the gasket between the engine and the throttle body brakes and the coolant gets in to the sensor. so check if there is any coolant there . IF not then just Replace the TPS( throttle positioning sensor. ) You can still drive it just have to keep foot on gas and slowly switching to N while braking and still giving gas. and then switching to drive and at same time press on gas .

I added the TPS and it allowed my car to start which wouldn't before. The car still is chugging a little bit, any ideas? Thanks for the advice on the TPS!

sometimes generic TPS dont work well. When you put new TPS you need to turn ur car to start position but dont start the car and leave it on like that for 3 min.But check inside the throttle body makes sure there is no sings of Coolant as well. The first TPS i replaced was from Autotzone and it didnt work well my car rpm will go crazy time to time. So i got another one from Advance auto and works prefect .

I had the same problem at one point. Try cleaning out your throttle body and part of your intake manifold. Mine was actually covered in a lot of carbon build up. after I cleaned it and put it back the car started up just fine.
