Good morning everyone!
So since I passed emissions I am working on other parts of my 2001 3.5 that I'd like to see working/upgraded. My new left outer tie rod, struts, and power window motor and regulator will be here today so I have a few questions:
1. I saw there was a stickied post on window motor/regulator replacement however the pictures are no longer there, I have never replaced a motor/regulator before and am hoping someone else might have found another post or has some pics they'd be willing to post to help me out?
2. The trunk used to need pressure on it and once in the right sweet spot, after it clicked about 3 times it would pop open. I re-aligned the trunk because it was pretty off center, and the left rubber stopper made that side higher than the right so I corrected that as well. Now the trunk will click every time but wont pop open while the car is off, but as soon as I turn the ignition it will pop open first press... anyone had this happen? is it normal?
3. DRL's. I hate them. I tried pulling the fog light/DRL fuse, and tried pulling the relay yet the b******* stayed lit. Any other suggestions? I'd like to keep my fog lights if possible, after I get both bulbs replaced.
Thank you all for the help in advance, it's much appreciated!

Awesome thank you RCA I will try that! Now before I go into that later I just want to verify how the lighting works since per that post in your response it seems they work a little different. Here is my Avalanche: And the Aurora: so is it the same, 1 = lowbeams, 2= highbeams, 3 = parking lights, 4 = fog lights? and they only turn on when those specific lights are selected? And the DRL's are the orange tinted lens?

Yes your numbering is correct. The highbeam is the normal DRL if I remember right (I never owned a 2G)or in other words the one you'll be stopping from running continuously during the day. I think that what they were saying in that link is the corner lights in the bumper were still lighting (#3) I can't confirm any of it myself of course haha. Hopefully someone with a 2G chimes in. Either way it seems removing pin #85 or #86 on the DRL relay will do it for you.

Awesome well thank you! I'll definitely be trying this later today, but the fog lights are out and I have not seen them work since ive owned the car (about a month) so I want to head to auto zone and put bulbs in before breaking relays Any thoughts on why the trunk doesn't pop when the car isn't on? It isn't the valet switch because the gas lock releases and when I actually switch it to on it doesn't click

Window motor/regulator: YOUTUBE! And don't forget our sister vehicles, the 2000-2005 Pontiac Bonneville and Buick Lesabre. Some (very) minor differences, but you'll get the idea. Trunk: I don't think that's normal, my wife pops the trunk at the gas station with the ignition off all the time, haha! I guess just keep fiddling with it. DRLs: Wire a 3 terminal (SPDT) switch into the PINK wire coming from the LEFT HIGH BEAM headlight; middle terminal to headlight end, either outer terminal to harness end. Wire the third terminal to GROUND. Done. ON/OFF DRLs! One position is stock wiring, the other is parallel only/open DRL circuit... The pin snipping will work as well, haha! Just don't snip 30 or 87A!

The DRL and the fog lights are separate issues. The DRL works on the high beams only. When the DRL is on the DRL relay shunts the power to the high beams from parallel to series connection. Connected that way they effectively run at half power. Concerning your fog lights, check the fog light relay, the wiring and the switch.

okay got the fog lights working, I just changed the bulbs while attempting to replace the struts and outer tie rod since I needed to go through the wheel well anyways. My original plan before I noticed they weren't working was to put HID fog lights in to compliment my HID lowbeams, has anyone done this and have any input? I ran a relay for my lowbeams to the fuse box under the hood, should I get a relay for HID fog lights as well? The parking lights I'd like to turn off are the ones on the outer end of light housing, not the ones on the outside bumper. My right one (when looking at the car) is off but the turn signal works still, and thats exactly what I like! I see theres three wires that run to that parking light, a black (ground I'm assuming), purple, and blue. is the turn signal one wire while the parking light (always on) a different wire? could I just cut one and be okay? I'm going to take my multimeter out there in a minute and see if I can figure it out shortly. I'll post pics soon as well Side note: my lower strut bolts are seized and I broke 2 snap-on socket adapters (1/2" to 3/8") and I was able to take apart the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle but my outer tie rod it seized onto the inner tie rod. FML shop wants about $400 to undo a couple bolts basically.. awesome Edit: I also snipped pin 85 for the DRL's and will see if that works tomorrow, as its not light here anymore

Just posting an easy trick I used... I simply put a 9006 bulb in the high beam socket and DRLs are gone...
Also, I'm currently running 55 watt HIDs in my low beam and my fogs.

I am about to replace mine and been choosing which is more durable between mevotech vs moog parts. Any feedback? I've heard good reviews that both are of good quality but wanting to get comments from other people who had experienced with these parts. thanks

For those things you best is find ac delco they last the longest other wise mevotech is better than moog. moog used to be good but not anymore at list in Aurora world.

If you want to disable the drls without pulling any fuse. Simply install a 9006 bulb in the high beam housing. That's how I did it. You still retain your high beams but no longer run DRL.
Window regulators are fairly easy. It's just a small motor to replace with three 10 mm bolts.
