I don't care that this 1972 Ferrari Daytona is now 45 years old. It's my favorite Ferrari of all time, because I actually got to sit in one back in the 1970s. I didn't want to drive it, because I knew that I couldn't shift a 5 speed stick well. I spotted this one at a Ferrari meet in Tarrytown, NY recently.............

That's a solid pick Marc! Ferraris are timeless... Here's a favorite of mine from my youth, only 30 years old, haha! 1988 Ferrari Testarossa Koenig mrn65 , little trivia for ya; The 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spyder from Miami Vice was actually a C3 Corvette!

Both gorgeous. I had no idea that special version of the Testarossa even existed! Everyone seems to love the F40. I do too, but the 288 GTO was always my favorite:

They don't really do ugly cars, but I also prefer the '60's ones... particularly ones that aren't driven on TV or in a movie, by a guy who can't afford it, or a guy who has the car in place of a personality. I also get pretty tired of their Red. (I'm red-green color blind.) I like those Daytonas, but they look a little like a spyder version of a Citroen. So, I prefer the more atypical cars, like this: i0.wp.com/s3.amazonaws.com/scardigest/wp-content/uploads/196_Ferrari_1963_400-Superamerica-LWB-Aerodinamico_Coupe_5029-SA__900.jpg(which appears to be a 1963 400 superamerica...) Even the Dino's have begun to grow on me. If I were gonna buy a Ferrari, stick it in the garage, I wouldn't want to find out later that Justin Beiber's hair-stylist gave him the same car. :/

I also get pretty tired of their Red. (I'm red-green color blind.) Haha, that's borderline blasphemy! I have moderate protanopia as well, but FERRARIS ARE RED! It's iconic. I'm not saying that all Ferraris are, or should be red; it's just the color that comes to mind when someone says, "Ferrari". Case in point, "AC Cobra"... Thinkin' blue?

I'm not saying that all Ferraris are, or should be red; it's just the color that comes to mind when someone says, "Ferrari". Case in point, "AC Cobra"... Thinkin' blue? Because of my color blindness, I someone asks me "what color should your next car be?" I automatically think blue. Besides which, the AC Cobra is just one model. Other Shelby models, I'm as likely to think "white with blue stripes," as "guardian blue with white stripes." If Carol Shelby had partnered for engines with Chrysler or Chevrolet, Shelby's color might have been Orange or... what would his Chevrolet color have been, to contrast Ferrari, Silver? For a long time, I had heard that Henry Ford had said something like: "People can have a model T in any color they want, as long as it's black..." & that he had made just one exception, because Thomas Edison wanted a red model T. Lately, I read somewhere that Black-only was only during the War years (WWI), when other colors were more expensive. I picked that particular picture, because the car is NOT red. I have seen beautiful AC Cobra's in black and in silver... Ferraris also happen to look good in black, although I admit I can only recall even seeing a pictures of 1 blue one. I've never even seen a picture of a green one. There are some pretty good greens out there. I don't know if this is because British racers adopted green as their racing color, or what. I can think of 3-4 different "shades" of silver, 6-8 of blue, & actually 4-6 shades of red. Ferrari may identify itself with a particular shade of red, but that doesn't mean I need to like THAT shade, or prefer any given Ferrari in that red. That Idiot who was hosting the new Top Gear has a collection of Ferraris & ---being an idiot--- painted most of them white. I agree that some colors show off the lines of a car better, white being one. My aurora is pearl white, which would not have been my first choice, but imagining changing that color is hard. Ford, Ferrari, & the Top Gear idiot all get to spend their time, money, & effort on their very own color preference. So do I. And for the record, I like the Shelby Daytona better than the AC Cobra, too. I generally prefer hard-tops to convertibles.

I don't think we're on the same page...
While I do appreciate your rather verbose explanation of the existence of other colors and color preference bias among individuals, I did qualify that not all Ferraris are red, and not all Ferraris should be red. Only that a red Ferrari is a an icon.
I'm not devaluing your opinion, it's as valid as my own or any other...
...But you did misspell Carroll Shelby, lol!

You wanted to talk color. Dodge demonstrated in the 1990's, 'iconic' pretty much equals 'boring.'. .. & as for being verbose, I do that.
Does this mean we won't be getting matching pedicures?

Haha, you brought up color!
So yeah, definite pass on the pedicures, but we could grab a beer and discuss the positive and negative connotations of the word "icon" if you'd like.
We're good though.
