Hello,
Yesterday while I was driving my wipers came on as if they where in the low setting while in the off position and they would not stop until the car was off. All I can do via the wiper switch is put them on high. I can't get them to turn off. I am hoping it is a wiper motor issue I just would like confirmation. I have since pulled the fuse to them. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I would think its a connection on the switch (stick) which turns them on. Not sure how difficult yours is to replace or the testing procedure even though I assume power coming from it while in the off position is a problem.

Hey, that's a new one! At least to me.
I have heard of 2G wipers not stopping when turned to off, and stopping in the middle or at the top of the windshield. Those are usually motor issues, electrical and mechanical respectively.
Powering on independently with no ability to turn them off would make me think switch though.
Do you have the rainsense option? I'll get a random single swipe every now and then when my rainsense is on...
Sorry for no definitive solution, just never seen your exact circumstances.

Well today I put the fuse back in and the wipers stayed off. I went through all the wiper settings and they worked like normal and shut off when I switched them off. However after a bit of driving they came back on in a intermittent mode even though I have rain sensing wipers. When I turned the wipers on they work normally in all settings until I turned them off and it went back to an intermittent wipe. Later on I managed to disconnect the rain sensor (much easier to get to then I thought), no difference. One thing to note yesterday the wipers in the off position where acting as if they where on the low setting and today they acted to have had a consistent delay between wipes. How would a bad switch cause that? I am prepared to purchase this tomorrow www.rockauto.com/en/parts/cardone+select,851029,wiper+motor,8824

I would still guess switch. Almost sounds as if some of the connections are getting crossed up inside of it. I've seen it happen before, the grease they used to lubricate it ends up becoming conductive over time. Happens a lot in the headlights (multi function switch) on the classic Aurora and it happened in my friend's old Saturn in the wiper switch. What would happen in my car with the headlights is they would flash when the switch was off and work normally when I turned them on. My suggestion before purchasing anything is cleaning it out with some contact cleaner similar to what is shown in this thread and this thread. Otherwise if you get the motor here's to hoping that it solves the problem! (Edit- I apologize for the pictures being missing in the threads, photobucket decided to hold everyone's pictures on their once free accounts for a $400 ransom)

Interestingly enough my wipers have been working perfectly the past two days but i know the issue will arise again regardless of setting. Would this still possibly point to the switch being an issue? Ya I friggen hate that! the pictures can make all the difference.

Intermittent issues usually tend to be wiring or electrical so I would still guess switch, but no harm in leaving it be until it comes back haha.

Guess it could be a broken solder joint on the pulse board.
I had that once on another GM. Mine wouldn't stop, never came on by themselves though...

Just an update I have now finally got my wiper motor replaced, the old motor worked fine with some jitters in the morning when you first use it. I got this new motor off of rockauto CARDONE SELECT 851029 . It seems to work great so far with the exception of the amount of wipes the wipers do when you push the wash windshield button. It usually depends on how long i hold the button sometimes it wipes the way i would expect but other times the motor only wipes twice sometimes leaving half the windshield untouched after you let go of the button. ( it squirts halfway let say as the wipers come down on the last wipe). Kinda of annoying but i am just assuming that the new motor especially being aftermarket is programmed a bit differently in the board. Please chime in if you have experience with this motor in your Aurora or similar g body vehicle.

It might be a motor or it might be wiper transmission shifted and need to be adjusted.
