The top section of the grid, which doesnt appear to be connected to the rest of the grid, doesn't defog or desfrost in the cold so I often have a blind spot where it doesn't melt. Does anyone know how to fix this?
And with my trim pieces removed, I noticed on one side the grid has silver looking end-tabs and its peeled slightly off one side. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I wonder who had your aurora before you got it. So many strange issues.

My 1999 also has this same problem. So I'm interested in any comments from the membership, too.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Nothing to fix. On the 2G at least, that's an antenna! -from 2001 Owner's Manual, 3-27; Diversity Antenna System
Your AM-FM antennas are located in the front windshield and rear window. Be sure that the inside surfaces of the front windshield and rear window are not scratched and that the lines on the glass are not damaged. If the inside surfaces are damaged, they could interfere with radio reception.

Wow... so they put the antenna in the way of seeing through the window? Smart...... and yeah the previous owner was a 16 year old boy. You know how boys are. But I will post a picture of my heating grid thing.

As tigger mentioned, the top grid on the rear window is an antenna, so leave that alone unless the buss bar is detaching.
Your picture shows the grid bus bar for the rear window heater grid. It has detached from the grid, so those horizontal grid lines wont work. The repair requires that you use silver solder, rosin flux paste, and a low ( 40W ) soldering iron. Both the detached bus bar and the grid on the glass need to be cleaned and buffed fine steel wool in order for the solder to stick. after cleaning, the rosin flux is pasted over the two ares with a brush. Soldering iron must be clean and coated with fresh silver solder. Coat the buss bar and the grid lines with a thin layer of solder. DONT hold the soldering iron on any one spot more that thirty or so seconds. Overheating will break the glass. Don't use water to cool, that will also cause the glass to break. Once coated, press the bar to the glass and heat with the gun to melt the solder Use pliers or some other tool to push the grid on to the glass while soldering. Allow to cool and test circuit. Remember.. you must use silver solder with at least 3% silver for this to work!
If you feel uncomfortable doing this ( and I don't blame you ) Take it to a glass shop for repair.

Hmm. Thanks. I might bring it to someone since my solder experience is.... small.
