Bought my 95 aurora about 3 months ago, clean as a whistle! 1 person owner and still had the window sticker from the day they bought it. Outside and inside were immaculate. The motor had a slight hiccup so i figured a tune up should straighten it right out. The only problem was the brake lines were shot and couldn't test drive it( seemed worth the risk ... was taken care of by an older couple).
Took it home, got it up in the air and changed the following with oem parts - 2 motor mounts , fuel filter, all new brake lines, new brakes, new motor oil, new trans oil .
Started it up and still had that shake. So I changed the plugs and wires and the #2 coil( seen that it was bad unplugging each one while running ) this Made it better but still shakes. So now I assumed a fuel issue. Ordered a new fuel pressure regulator, no help. Then the fuel pump. Still no help. Oem parts are pretty expensive and I'm running out of money, so here I am seeking help from the experts.
Symptoms are - @ idle in park rpms go from 500-900 ish continuously bouncing in between. @ idle in gear with brakes applied the Car seems to want to take off, unsure of rpms in this state. When accelerating the trans shifts perfectly but motor seems very very sluggish. Every once in a while it'll give power and suck me back in the seat, this lasts for a second tops. Big time lag when accelerating, 4 bangers embarrass me. Sluggish sluggish vroom sluggish vroom sluggish sluggish vroom (the vroom is power). Chug at every stop light, and tends run warm if idling to long.
I'm new and not an auto mechanic. Sorry if this is hard to understand but I'm frustrated and trying to hurry, break time at work is almost up. I would greatly appreciate any advice or help

Do you have a check engine light on?
Maybe a vacuum leak (backfire valve). Make sure you use AC Delco or NGK spark plugs.
Have you changed the fuel filter since you changed the pump?

scan it for trouble codes (Auto Zone or O' Reilly for free) before you throw any more money at it. If no codes then I'd suspect the worst which is blown HG & it's caused a vacuum issue. My Jeep is doing this right now.

There is no ses light on, I used ac Delco plugs and wires, and no I have not changed the fuel filter since I changed the pump. About the head gasket thing... i don't see or smell any antifreeze, and my oil looked really good when i changed it. Should I try cleaning the throttle body? I'm getting like 17 mpg currently. Before I changed my plugs I got 23.5 . What gives

I wouldn't suspect head gasket. I'd consider changing the fuel filter though as it's relatively cheap and easy to do. It certainly sounds like misfiring so I'm surprised you have no codes. Being a '95 I'm not as familiar but I wonder if your problems could have something to do with the idle air control motor. Check out this write-up. Honestly just a stab in the dark, symptoms are rather generic, could be a number of things. I'm not sure but was it you tigger that posted the fix for the photobucket images? You'll need that to view the write-up

I'm not sure but was it you tigger that posted the fix for the photobucket images? Haha, I did post a fix for Firefox (which turned out to be a POS!), but sall beat me to it with a great working fix for Chrome. I humbly bow to Google. They'll wind up owning it all anyway...

decided to check spark on the plugs again.... noticed the one coil I had replaced ( 2 & 8 i believe ) had just a little bit better spark... got the extra set of coils from my cousin, and wala. Also put his egr valve on, it's like I just drove it off the lot! Egr valve took care of the idle issue and coils gave me full power! Today I got my daughter and fixed my car, I'm a very happy aurora owner once again. Thanks for the help guys!
