So yesterday I'm driving along and pull up along a guy in a Chevy Tahoe on his right side. I was in the right turn lane and noticed the passenger in the Tahoe waving at me. Assuming they were trying to get into my lane I waved them over. But he kept waving, so I rolled down my window and found out he was asking me if I wanted to sell my Aurora haha. He said it was a nice car and he never sees them anymore, and wanted to buy mine. I was a bit taken aback but responded "NO WAY!" haha. It was a small and random encounter but it's still nice to know that some people still appreciate the Aurora like we do! Makes me really consider parking her and keeping her as long as I can.

I vote for driving her as long as you can!
Mine splits time with a 98 MarkVIII. Both get about 10k miles a year. When something does go wrong I can usually take the time to diagnose and fix it myself with parts from Rock Auto. Or even if it goes to the shop I'm not borrowing a car till they are done.
Having the other old car to drive means I don't have to push it when I have a front engine noise and end up stuck. Things like that mean alot to me.
Neither is a show car. My Aurora has no A/C so I'd rather not drive it when its above 85 out. The MarkVIII is worse than my 68 Mustang in the snow so I can drive the Olds then.

Haha, that's great Rob!
I got a honk and thumbs up from a young lady in a Classic a while back. Oldsmobile still bridging generations after all these years, haha!

Why would you not want to keep her? Of course you will always get the stares and people always appreciate seeing a different car on the road instead of the same looking cars on the road, as the Aurora's are nice looking cars. They have character, style, looks classy as they always have, and its an Oldsmobile! Even my final 500 Bravada gets the looks and stares. I only take my Oldsmobile's to car shows now really and maybe once a month for an nice outing is all they get now, since they are overall in good quality show room condition, and I drive my other GM stables as my daily drivers.

I'd have no doubts about keeping her for the long haul if I had the storage space, I just don't. Until then she's the daily driver and every day she spends as that decreases the odds that she'll be sticking around (my last aurora got wrecked at no fault of my own after all). If it comes to the time where I'm getting a new car and I have the space for the Aurora she definitely isn't going anywhere.

A lady came up to me and wanted to know what year and make my car was. I told her that it's a 1997 Aurora. She proceeded to tell me that it was a new car and there was no way this car is 20 yrs old... We went on with her almost calling me a liar until she took notice of the wiper arms which are missing a good deal of paint and really show their age. She then apologized for disagreeing with me about my car(she thought it might be a new jaguar) and went on her way.lol

I pulled my 99 into a glass repair shop (for a house Skylight repair ) 2 months ago and had the same thing happen. Another customer said that he has been looking for one for 2 years at local auctions ect and has not found what he wanted. He said he had owned them before and regretted getting rid of it. We talked for a wile and he understood that I was not interested in selling. I still have 2-3 people a year come up to me about the car. Pretty impressive for a 20 year old design.

I was getting gas one day and this couple at the pump by me started arguing over my car. I didn't realize they were talking about mine at first because they both thought it was a Buick. However, they loved my Buick! lol
