Figured I'd write up a thread on this b.c I was pleased to see my ported throttle body, that I ported over 2 years ago, was shining like the day I did it, after removing it. This is a virtually easy mod to do, maybe gain a few horses and you'll almost never need to clean it again, b.c polishing it smooth and shiny won't allow any carbon to stick to it. The process: 3 10mm bolts hold it in, the gasket is reusable and just a couple connectors, plugs removed and dislodge the throttle wire ball and it's off. Next, I dremeled some meat off from inside the TB. Then I smoothed all the lines over and made the transitions smooth and then I polished it nice and shiny. I removed my TB today and it was virtually carbon free. Just a little touch up was needed. I also delved a little deeper and the screws that hold the plate in, I removed and sanded down so they don't don't stick out so much. They probably stuck out 2mm or so. Now its nice and flush to the plate bar. Every little bit counts!!

While I'm at it, I also match ported the inlet that is attached to the coolant chamber. So when I reinstall everything, it will be a real super smooth transition. The inlet has deep metal lines in it that took some time to smooth out....

How did you account for the space around the throttle plate? Unless you didn't Port that area?

The space around the throttle plate? I just grinded down some of the sharp lines the stock TB has, with my dremel and smoothed them over so it transitions nicely. Then I polished it with a wire brush. I was very careful and took my time b.c I only get 1 shot haha or I'd be looking at another TB. I think factory our TB's are 75mm. A company no longer in business called RSM used to make 80mm TBs for like $500. But they went ahead and resized a new throttle body plate etc... Pretty involved. I'm happy just cleaning mine up the way I did.
