Parts of the US and I guess Canada are experiencing real cold waves. How cold is it for you today? For me, it's -14* in Fairfield Co., Connecticut........................

We're due, We're due! In central Colorado, its been dangerously dry, and range fires sprout up easily. In the mountains, the only ski snow base is man-made snow. It has never been cold enough for me to blanket the horses, and their water troughs freeze maybe the top 1/2 inch. Daily high temperatures in the 60's. But on the bright side, it is perfect weather for our National Western Stock Show and Rodeo!

36* F was the high, today. This was after 10-12 days sub-zero. New Years day was the coldest, at -24* for a high.
This is why I had discussions here, two summers ago, about the possibility of the block cracking in extreme cold. We get it, every 5-7 years (this time, it was more like 10 years)... not for long, & no I'm not in Canada.
But once the engine block is cracked, all the kings horses & all the kings men, won't be putting it back together again. Come spring, I'll get to find out about my blocks, just like my neighbors and co-workers have been finding broken water pipes --with less of a delay.

Oh wow. We had a -4 night or two here. Nothing super impressive or threatening to our Acer palmatums! This spring is going to be interesting.

...36* F was the high, today. This was after 10-12 days sub-zero. New Years day was the coldest, at -24* for a high. I really don't know why I said -24* was the high. It was the low. High was around -4*. The stupidest thing I can think of ----is getting pissed off, because I feel like my veracity was questioned 2 years ago, so I just throw it away now. ...I guess I need to consult a doctor, about chemical imbalances, or maybe just start a drug habit, for the excuse. The cold was such an extra stress, extra time to go anywhere, more reluctance to go out. I dropped half the gas mileage on my truck, warming it up before I went anywhere. The warm-up is such a relief, I feel like I could walk around in shorts. (39* F, right now)

We had a high of around 30F yesterday so it's actually a bit warmer than it's been the past couple weeks. Dropped down in the negatives for highs before that.
