I've been looking at Aurora's, but I didn't wanted to dive in on a higher priced low mileage model until I was sure that I liked the drive. So, instead I bought a 2001 3.5 with 194k on it for a smaller sum. No obvious issues except a bit of corrosion on the hood, the very beginnings of some rust in the wheel wells, and A/C not working. Interior was clean, she started up with no codes and no warning lights. Previous owner bought it from parents in 2016, who bought it in 2004 with 34k on it. First 100 miles have been fine, but noticed a slight shudder at 75 and up. All other speeds seem good. And this morning the "Check Engine" light came on. I'll be taking it to a friend's shop and having them give it a thorough once over and take a look and see what is up with the A/C.
I love driving her so far, so I'm hopeful that she doesn't start draining the wallet too quickly.

Yeah, the high speed "shimmy" is fairly common. Usually caused by poorly balanced wheels, but it could be any number of worn steering/suspension components...
Welcome, and good luck with your CHK ENG light and A/C!
And don't forget to post up a pic, haha!

Here she is. I chose the angle where you can't see the corrosion on the front of the hood.

Every issue you listed is pretty much par for the course haha. I know the corrosion on the hood is common in the 2nd generation Aurora. Shimmy/vibration at highway speeds is common across all generations. AC usually is anything from a leak at the compressor to a stuck blend door in the dash. At least in my experiences. Glad to have you on the forum! Let us know what codes come back for the CEL and we can probably tell you how to take care of them!

Good to know I have "normal" problems. I hate it when a board shrugs its collective shoulders and says "Huh, never seen that before".

That’s a nice Aurora, welcome to the club! My 97 vibrates a little around 75mph as well, so yeah, that’s pretty much normal haha
