I'm just wondering if replacing the rear brake pads on the rear are the same as the front. This is on a 2003 model. On the front it's just a matter of removing the caliper bolts and pulling the caliper off without having to pull the caliper bracket.
Is the rear the same without having to pull the caliper bracket? I ask because someone had told me that I need to take the whole caliper and caliper bracket off to replace the rear pads. That seems a little extreme but since I have never done them before I thought I would ask. I do know that you have to screw the piston back into the caliper so I'll rent the tool to do that.
I just need confirmation on what I need to remove.

If you're only replacing the pads, here's the 'quick and dirty';
Yes, it's a Pontiac. Exactly the same.
And don't waste your money on that 'cube' piston tool, needle nose pliers work fine.

The caliper bracket is only two bolts anyways. If you're only changing pads, removing the caliper pin/bolt is enough. Personally I usually remove both caliper pins/bolts and re-grease them.

I'm only doing the pads. That video was exactly what I needed.
