The tiny incandescent bulbs in my steering wheel buttons and heater controls are mostly dark. Has anyone figured out how to replace them with LEDs?

Hmmm...that thread is all about installing identical replacement incandescent bulbs but I thought I read a similar thread years ago about switching to LEDs. 2 of the 4 bulbs in my steering wheel buttons are burned out. There's not much room to fit a resistor in there. The thread I read told how. My climate control center has all bulbs out except the up/down rocker. All the incandescent bulbs could be replaced with LEDs run off a single dropping resistor but tracing the PCB is impossible thanks to it being a multi-layer board. Doing continuity checks I found 2 pins on the bulkhead connector that have continuity to the bulb +12V lead--but I need to determine which PCB trace to cut to add the resistor or else the entire module may not get enough voltage to run.
I'm beginning to think I should just use the OEM-type glass bulbs since they'll surely outlive the car at this age!

I don't recall, I do remember similar threads but for the classic. I'll have to take a look on google.

This thread gives a short description of using resistors for 2G dash lighting.
