Hi everyone. I just came by to say that you can use a group 78 battery in the car(I believe the stock is 79) I went with 78 because there is far more options for agm, high quality, etc for 78 than 79. I got a northstar(ha) AGM battery for 300 dollars of group size 34/78. The only issue I had with the Northstar battery is the vents are a *little* far away from where they need to be to fit without looking weird, but my hose still fit and wasnt popping itself off, just looks cockeyed. BTw, this is the battery I got www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GS35RJ6/So far so good, a very good improvement over my 8 year old 79 interstate battery which if I leave my LED headlights on for 2 minutes I can't start the car with it. Even the top posts clear the seat so it doesn't rub on it.

Pretty sure BCI Group 79 was OE for Classics, and Group 78 was OE for the 2G.
They each use a different vent tube as well...
But hey, if it's connected, bolted down, and vented, you're good to go, haha!

I mean the 79 fits in the 2g like it was made to fit in there(its bigger than 78) and the vent tube doesnt have to be stretched, aka it fits normally. The 78 is smaller so it still fits but the vent tube just has to stretch a lil bit. Unless there is another style battery I think 79 was OEM.

Interesting... not sure why the vent tubing has to stretch so odly then.

Like I said, there is a different vent tube for each battery.
Perhaps whoever installed the 79 in your car actually took the time to install the correct vent tube...
