I have a 97. Rotating tires today and talking to work at the same time I noticed this on the passenger front side, snapped a pic of it and got distracted by a tire defect I found so I went about my business figuring it was lower control arm time.
Looking at them online it looks like the control arm bushings are horizontal facing front to back. This one is vertical facing up and down. Is that actually a body mount bushing? If so which one?
FWIW I was chasing a wobble at 60+ and a new pair of tires seems to have fixed it. The car has a suspension noise first time I turn the wheel after it sits and I wonder if that bushing is it.

Yeah, that is (was) a control arm bushing.
'97 was the transition year. They had aluminum control arms like the '98+, but the one horizontal/one vertical mount configuration of the '95-'96...
You may be able to find a replacement bushing, but if not, you could always reposition the mount 90o and use the '98+ control arms...

Different orientation. I don't know if the replacements are available, RockAuto is out of stock and I read somewhere that you can't get the '97 control arm replacements anywhere....which also seems to be true as they show a control arm with horizontal bushings on rockauto and don't have a control arm available for Aurora's pre-'97 besides the rear ones. You MAY be able to sneak a bushing from the '95-96 on there, but I'd be skeptical of that approach myself.

What's involved with turning the mount around to take the new style control arm? I'm guessing its easy or impossible because I google isn't helping me find many threads on it lol. (or I'm google special)

I would say that's probably exactly what needs to be done. Believe the Aurora/Riv share the same frame. My guess was going to be "a lot of cutting and welding"

^Yep, that's it. If you can't find replacement bushings it's either that or replace the cradle with one from a '98/'99. Wonder if a '96 steel control arm is compatible ...or even available?

That seems like a bit of work. You all have been kicking around a bit so I guess if custom replacement bushings were available you all would know about them . Man, finding a junkyard 96 has to be the most common answer. How bad off do you think my control arm is? My MarkVIII is doing my daily driving until the weather breaks. It could use some time in drydock itself so to say.
