Hello,
Somewhat randomly, usually while my car is warming up, my 97's blower motor quits blowing. It comes back on its own, no need to hit a bump or anything. It also comes back faster than I can get my multi-meter to it.
I'm not above trying to clip my multi meter to the wires and watching to see if the voltage to it drops or not when it turns off. Think that may work?
Is there a better way of testing this or should I just throw a $30 Rock Auto blower motor at it and see what happens before getting a control module.
Edit: I am also not above just running power to the motor and seeing if it ever shuts off if anyone knows what wire is the power wire and if it can handle the full 12v or 14.5v it will be getting.

First, I'd like to say, that blower motor is a screaming terrifying thing with the cage on and 12 volts running to it.
So I can verify it does run off a range of 1 to 14 volts.
I'm contemplating my next step of testing it. I might screw it to a couple pieces of 2x4's I have laying around and drive around later. If it doesn't misbehave I'll shove it back in its hile with my multi meter plugged in the connectors and see if the meter drops to 0v when the fan malfunctions.
FWIW, the general clenliness/connectivity of the plug isn't great. That may have been the problem.

On both Aurora's I've owned the blower would get intermittent for a while before it would stop completely. In both cases the actual failure was friction in the motor bearings. When it doesn't start I can reach in to the cabin air intake (2G) and give the fan a spin & it'll take off and be fine until the next time it's shut off.
Last fall the blower started giving me trouble. I dropped the assembly out the bottom of the dash and sprayed some penetrating oil on the motor shaft/bearing and this fixed it until I forgot about it. Couple of weeks ago it starts acting up again and now the weather has turned cold.

Keyboard diagnosis the blower control module is more than likely bad. They go bad all the time, especially on 97s. Right after I got mine in 07 I had the same problem. Took it to a dealership in Colorado and paid $100 for them to tell me they didn't know what was wrong with it. Then shortly after I found ACNA and all the answers. Fixed it myself for $20.

That sure was it. I have a junkyard one in there now. Think it was $16 with $1 entry fee and a rearview mirror. Honestly the junk car wasn't all that dirty to lay down in either. Now if only I could have had a warmer day long as I'm being picky lol.
