I have an 01 V8 Aurora. We got lots of rain today and there was lots on the road with the melting snow. I drove maybe 3 miles down the road and the speedometer stopped working and my transmission wouldn't shift. I shut the car off and back on then the car worked ok for awhile. She started to shift hard and the speedometer stopped working again. I stopped at a convenience store 12 miles further and went in for a coffee. I got back in the car and everything worked properly and it shifted smoothly and fine.
I know it's an electrical issue, so am I looking for bad grounds? Bad wires, or something in the transmission harness? I do have other electrical issues as well such as the theft system displays a message but if I turn the key off then back on it goes away.

Sounds like trouble with the vehicle speed sensor, but I'd inspect the transmission harness/connector and maybe clean it out with electrical contact cleaner and compressed air to start.

Yes had this issue 90% sure as RCA1186 said output vehicle speed sensor. This is some what common issue as well. But scan for codes.
