Boy it's been a while since I've posted on here for good reason. I've been gone! As soon as I got DB8R running I landed a BLM federal archaeology job at the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument in Utah - some 1,300 miles from where I live. There was no way I was going to take the Aurora to the back country desert of the Utah, Arizona, Nevada border area. I needed 4 wheel drive with good ground clearance, the ability to haul and tow things, and a paint job I didn't care about. I was on site near the Paiute Reservation from June 8th until November 10th! I slept in the back of the Jeep multiple times. I missed the Aurora and had my girlfriend start it and let it idle up to temperature every week. She kept notes on oil pressure, water temperature, and battery voltage. It has a fresh built 4.6 with less than a thousand miles on it. As soon as I got home I went to take it to the gas station because it's sitting on fumes. It starts right up but won't go into gear. The black button/lever is not budging and I can't get the car out of park. I know it could be the brake light switch but where is that located? I realize it could be a brake-transmission interlock solenoid (safety neutral switch), but where is that located? It's always been a little difficult to take out of park and go into gear. I've had the car for 2 years now but haven't even put 1,500 miles on it in that time. Just seems to me like it doesn't move very freely like the shifter in my '97 did. I reckon I'll have to pull the center console at a minimum.
