So recently I've been getting the "i want to update and begin fixing up my Aurora again, bug." My thoughts were disconnecting the worthless onstar rear view mirror from my car. Remove it from the windshield. It should just slide off right? And I wanted to replace it with the new style cadillac 2014 and newer CTS rimless rear view mirror. But how will I know if it fits without physically having it?
I think it will be a cool upgrade. But my question is, are all adhesive rear view mirror posts the same for all rear view mirrors to just pop onto?

They're basically all the same. The only difference would be the mounting plate which is held on by an adhesive and replaceable.

Yeah technically you could just take the metal bracket completely off the windshield and mount anything up. If the new mirror only requires power and ground to operate it should work. I doubt the actual post of the mirror would be the same completely though, but stranger things have happened.

Very cool! I am going to do this. I'll post pictures eventually when I get around to it. Thanks!

But my question is, are all adhesive rear view mirror posts the same for all rear view mirrors to just pop onto? I really dont know if they are just plug and play. On my Cadillacs we have the rearview camera mirror along with the automatic dimming. Also the forward collision and lane changing along with the 360 degree camera view and the black box is on it and dont know what is actually on the glass. This is on my 2017 Cadillac CT6 Premium awd model and my CTS's has it as well, the mirror itself looks like the old school Toronado's rearview mirrors. I would love to do this to my Oldsmobiles as well, but i upgraded my onstars system and love having it. If you want me to show you more pics or whatever and assistance let me know.

Hmmm yea i was thinking about that after the face. If I just disassemble the Aurora rear view mirror and then just install the 15' + CTS rear view mirror as a "dead" no option mirror. I think I would be fine with that. I dont need instead, backup camera or anything. I need to look at the Aurora rear view mirror again though. I forget if there is a built in compass in that thing or temp gauge. I'd hate to lose that. I'll need more research. If I can get this sucker wired up or not and work
