Hi all, some members may remember me and my white Stallion Aurora with my trans failure, got rid of her in 2008 to 2009 I believe, and the last time I checked in was in 2013. Well I have had a hankering to get another Aurora for a few months now and I have made the decision to pick one up around May. By then I should have enough saved to pay cash and drive out of state if needed as well as replace common components. I've been working for a stealership and now have the know how and equipment to keep higher milage cars. My current car is a 2000 Malibu with 211,000 miles and it runs great. I just sold my 205,000 mile Yukon a couple months ago and it's still running from what I heard. I just wanted to get a post going to get thoughts on what I should look for as well as getting help finding one. Don't know if anyone here is selling yet, however the timeline is at minimum three months out. A black interior is the first important thing to me, My last four cars have all had light interiors and I hate it. Next would be the color, I prefer white then silver, then black, anynother color would have to be low mileage or low number of owners. I can handle a few issues but head gasket or trans issues are a no for now. I can handle fuel pumps and starters and stuff like that. My budget greatly depends on the condition of the car, number of owners, and what work it will need done day one. Somewhere around $1500 to $3000 is reasonable. Edit, here was my Aurora If I could find ine just like mine I would be on cloud 9.

FB & Craigslist is how I found my '03 with 93k miles. Questions, pictures, Carfax, and more questions is how I decided to fly out and bring mine home. Took me a month and a half to find her. Soo far soo good. I figure that unless there is frame damage, there isnt anything that I really wouldn't want to go in and fix myself. Good luck.

When I decided I wanted an Aurora, I found this site: Search TempestIt takes extra steps switching between sites/searches, sometimes you have to re-do the search, when you go from the main page to one of the individual search pages, & I have not tried it with a phone, but I like how it lets you check many sources and go nation-wide. I like to do "what if?" browsing, so everytime I have the urge to see what it would take to get into a DeTamaso Pantera, it's my go-to. I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for the offer bigskypc50, but I'm mostly looking for a Classic but I won't turn down a good deal on a 2nd Gen V8. My search has intensified, I just got a much better higher paying job and I'll still be working my current one part time as well. I'm looking for something next month for about $2k. It'll be my main and my car will be my backup. I don't plan on doing too much to the Aurora, just setting up different intake and modifying the exhaust. I'm saving money to pick up a Pontiac G8 by the end of the year but I NEED a backup car since I can't take the risk of not being able to make it into work when my high mileage Malibu has issues.
Since I don't plan on this being a long term car I'm going to open up my options but I would prefer something with a dark interior but I'm not as concerned about the paint or the condition of the pain. I'll post what I can find. So far the best place I have found with good options and prices is the Facebook marketplace, a lot of the Aurora's on these listings tend to sit for about a month and a price drop before they sell so I might be able to find something to keep a pin on for a month. I'll post what I find for opinions.

Visiting this board brings some nostalgia. My Aurora needs a new home. I drove my '99 from 2009 to 2014. It was off the road while I worked overseas from 2014 to 2017. Then I registered it, passed MA state inspection, and drove it for six months before buying my current car (a smaller Lexus). I think I'm a little too far away to help you out (AZ to MA), but it would be sweet for that car to go back home West where it belongs. A car with a tighter turn radius is happier in Massachusetts, but I really enjoyed that Aurora while I lived in New Mexico. 1999. 166k. Available. Attachments:
