The car sometimes shifts hard. Trans is full - fluid looks OK...
Starts whenever it wants to and goes away the next time I drive it.
I think this is a flood car... Could this be a result of electric connections to the trans?
Any help appreciated

yes its common issue with that Trans sometimes people can replace pressure solenoid and it will fix the issue sometimes u need rebuild. Job for replacement solenoid around 600-900$ solenoid only cost 40$ or so. sometimes if you go to dealer and they run computer update if there is one available for your car it can fix the issue as well. But to know whats going on you need to put scanner that reads trans codes even if you dont have check engine light.

You will be looking for a p1811 code for the trans, google 4T65E and p1811 you will find enough info to go crazy. How many miles on the car and do you know the last time the pan was dropped? Depending what your plans or for the car long term or sort term ownership, I would start with a pan drop and filter change and maybe looking in to a trans go shift kit. Long term I would PCS and full shift kit

4X6XE transmissions use multiple inputs to determine shift time and firmness (TPS, IAT, ECT, RPM, MPH, ECM, others)
First scan for codes, than disconnect battery for force relearn of adapts. If fluid is good and no other issues (mods, faults, etc.) I would follow the strategy in the shop manual for intermittent hard shifting.

I have not been able to find a shop manual, as yet. Would you be so kind as to tell me what it says?

I bought a pan with a drain plug off ebay. I will be servicing the trans, maybe on thursday, as soon as I can get it in.
What is a "trans go shift kit" and will that fix it, for sure?

I'll put a scanner on it again and this time I will ask for the code numbers. Have you replaced that soleniod? Why so much money?

3.5 my mom had was bigger issue then solenoid but most of the time its just that or shift kit. The issue that you can change solenoid by just lowering trans enough to get to side cover. However most shops wont do that and to remove the trans and put back labor cost a lot.
