Hey Everyone,
While attempting to change out my Crankshaft Position sensor I came across some issues removing the starter like all how-to's say to do, and ended up finding a way to remove the sensor without disconnecting all starter wires then removing the starter itself that I figured Id share:
Step 1: Remove the (2) 15mm Bolts holding the starter in Place
Step 2: I dont have an original picture of it while the bolts are still in place - but you will pull the starter slightly right and lower the "Butt" end of the starter (Step 1), As you're lowering the "butt" end twist it so the top of the starter is twisting towards the rear of the car to give yourself a little extra room to work (step 2)
Step 3: Remove the splashguard from underneath the front of the car - there are 2 clips holding it in the front wheel wells you need to remove, and 3 clips underneath the car across the bar attaching the furthest to the rear side of the splash guard in the middle. Once the splashguard is removed you should be able to see the crank sensor located in the area where the arrow points to
Step 4: Locate the Crank Sensor and wiring, reach your hand up and around the left side of the starter (like the arrow in the next picture) and unclip the wiring harness from the sensor (Step 1). While looking at the sensor there is a 10mm bolt holding the sensor in place - remove it and the sensor should pull right out(Step 2)
Step 5: Put everything back together - Replace with new crankshaft position sensor, re-install the 10mm bolt holding the sensor, clip back in the sensors wiring harness, twist/lift the starter back to its original position, re-install (2) 15mm bolts holding in the starter, clip splash guard back in
