Last week I changed the cps on my 2002 with a 3.5, It had the typical tach and starting problems. It was very easy, you just have to get the starter out. after the repair everything was great without a relearn. It idled smoother, the tach went back to normal, I even gained 1.5 mpg better gas mileage. the best part was the shifting was not as harsh as it was, it was very surprising. If I knew it was going to do that I would have changed it years ago. But today a little more than a week later it is starting to shift hard again. Has anybody else experienced this? Does it have something to do with the computer relearning something. Please let me know.
Thanks, Paul

I'm not 100% certain, but I did think you needed to do a re-learn after changing the sensor. Do you have any trouble codes?

I'm not 100% certain, but I did think you needed to do a re-learn after changing the sensor. You are correct. It's necessary to use a Tech 2 or similar scan tool for that.

Its common issue with 3.5 trans you need to scan with tech 2 or trans scanner and if you get MAX adapt code its deff trans need to be rebuild.

I didn't do a relearn when I replaced my crank sensors... 7 years ago! Haha!
When was the trans last serviced?
Anyway, when you disconnected the battery to change your sensor, you basically erased all DTCs that had the trans in max adapt. Over the past week, they all came back.

thanks for all the comments, the trans is shifting better than ever.
I was easing up on it just before it shifts, which seems to make it more harsh.
if you stay on it she shifts smooth.
