What year Aurora? You worked on the climate control? Or are you saying it was bright before you started working on the car? What's your battery voltage?
If your Aurora is a 95-99:
The car dims the climate control when the headlights are on. Also, check your interior light/dimmer switch is all the way up and the lights aren't being dimmed. It's next to the twilight sentinel, left side of wheel on the dash.

its a 1995 and no i havent worked on the climate control, but we had to put a new fuel pump in it a few weeks ago, i unhook the battery before i leave the car because my dad is going to help me work on it sometime soon, im just keeping the battery charged. it the battery volt should be good bc its a new battrey ,and the info center worked one time after we changed the fuel pump, but its just really dim, the rest of the lights in the car work, they are bright, but is the temp control tied with the info center?

im not sure what would be causing the info center to not brighten up, it is really a faint light where i can see what its showing when its black outside but other than that i didnt know it was on, when the key is turned for accessories but the engine isnt started thats when i see the faint light for info, but when i start it, the info center and temp readout go blank like they dont work, so if you can ask around please help, thank you i just wanna get it back to working, i did try the interior brighner/dimmer it didnt make a difference for the info center

Car has a dimmer to dim the lights inside the car like cluster etc. but try to remove the unit or unplug the battery again for 5 min and put back in and see if its working again. I am not sure what other fuses that something people with 1g will know better than me. On 2g was kinda same issue turns out it was issue with ground cable.

The only thing that controls brightness is the dimmer on the left of the wheel. There is only an on and off for the DIC. It could just be too long in the tooth and dimmed out over time. Only suggestion I have is to unplug and spray connection with contact cleaner and work it in and out a few times.

2Gs have a similar/same issue with the odometer screen, although it's pretty rare...
Brightness is controlled by the voltage supplied to a single wire soldered the LCD screen circuit board. During the day, the screen gets full voltage. When you're running lights it gets half (I think), and you can use the dimmer to reduce that...
Problem arises when you get NO voltage, i.e., FAILED SOLDER JOINT. You get nothing, haha!
If you're good with a soldering iron, break it open and have at it! If not, gonna have to replace it.

okay its been about a month since i ask yall about that wire, my dad hasnt soldered it yet, because we havent painted it yet, but in the next monrg or so we should paint it and look at that wire, but i do have a question about that area of knobs and buttons above the radio, when i turned the key this afternoon, after it sitting for a week (i still unhook the battery) all the button and knob lights and stuff was on, except the dic, the climate control lit up as bright as it could but it read like it had been reset, idk what happened, maybe more wires my dad and i will need to check? like the pass. temp light, rear d.frost, a/c, knob for where the air needs to go, all those circles that light up and the heater/ac speed circles were on and the climate control. if yall can help me, will you please?

The green indicators were lit? That would indicate it was working. Were the numbers on the climate control temp flashing? That usually indicates an error. The dic does have an off button so make sure that is on.
The best chance we have to help is if you post a video or picture of the DIC and climate control to describe what you mean.

well the dic works just gets dim and my dad and i are going to fix that but i mean the lights for the defrost and ac and pass temp were on but i could still press them if i wanted them on as well as the blower speed knob lights were on and how you want the air to come in, all those green lights were on too, but its weird, i can still control it but the lights are on. they will stay pretty steady for a few mins then start flashing or like their glitching then go back to steady. before my dad bought the car, it sat for like 10 yrs so maybe something has built a nest there? causing that and i cant post a vid i am on a comp, sorry i dont have a phone

well this is bad, when i turned the fan speed up this morning when i started my car, i think there was a little smoke so i hurried up and shut the car off and unhooked the battery and i think thats from where that rat chewed the wires, i got so nervous, but i will get my dad to check the wires when we get ready to work on it, and i am still nervous it might catch on fire. it was okay until today, ive been driving it around but when i turned the fan speed up i guess it made a couple wires touch?
