I understand that there are ground wires that run along the underside of car and that a bad wire could be draining my battery. I need to know if there is a cluster of ground wires somewhere under the hood that I could use multimeter on to see if there is a problem? and where are the grounds located under my body? please.

I can only attest about the second gen model. the battery is located under the back seat and it is grounded to the chassis immediately to the side of the battery on the passenger side. The motor should also be grounded to the chassis. the motor's ground cable varies in location from year to year. You want to find these grounding points and disconnect them, clean them up and ensure that they have a good contact surface.
