Hello Out there . has anyone replaced the clutch bearing on a gen 1 without discharging ( removing the compressor) ? When engaged there is no noise and it pumps out cold air. When idle there is an obvious bearing noise. I was hoping to wait till spring, but it is getting worse. If it fails and locks up I take it that the compressor will just turn on right?? Well I tackled this job last weekend and it turned out to be easier than I thought . Using the special removal / installer tool for AC clutchs it could be done on the car thru the pass side wheel opening. I did not have to discharge or unbolt the compressor. Getting the spacing " gap " between the plates was a bit of trial and error. Long live the Aurora.
