Hi, me and my dad recently replaced the alternator on my 96 Aurora (heck of a job) and now the car won't hold a charge. Replaced cause had some pulley noise and battery was being undercharged once car warmed up to running temp. After we put everything back together the car fired right up but the dash said battery only had 12.6 volts and dropped slowly from there. Also had a bit of belt squeal. I replaced the battery back in October because I not only had the incorrect size but it was failing in general. Both autozone and oreilys said battery was bad. Checked all the ground/ hot wires and tension of the belt, everything was tight. Haven't checked the thermistor, though (personally) I don't think that'd cause the car to not charge at all, as the old alternator at least charged the it to some degree. Could it potentially be a bad ground cable or the new alternator is a dud? I'm stumped on this cause we installed it correctly and car should be charging properly. Bought the alternator off Rockauto, WAI Global 8188N.
