Hi all it is nice to know that I am not the only aurora fan out there. I purchased a 97 aurora( red metallic 178000 mi named Boris) about 2 and half years ago (when I was 17) since then I have had the engine out to replace the flex plate, replaced the two idler pullies, and rear brake lines. As with any aging car there are lots of minor things left to fix the most important is the hard start issue (most likely the ECT sensor which I have seen addressed thoroughly in another thread).
I have been an Oldsmobile person all my life (I came home from the hospital as a baby in 1955 holiday hard top) and for the past 11 years I have been working on them with my Dad. The aurora, Boris, is my first car and a real challenge they packed that transverse 8v in tight (I am used to the earlier cars with lots of room in the engine compartment). It is a learning experience for instance I forgot to reconnect the speed sensor before a test drive once and it wouldn't shift out of first (if any one is interested the speed sensor can be found by removing the passenger side front tire, reaching an arm in up to the elbow and there it is on top of the transmission). I am sure the car is well worth the effort.

Welcome to ACNA! I too think that Oldsmobiles are the best.....I've been driving them since the summer of 1961.

I couldn't agree more. I LOVE my '95 Aurora! I bought it 2.5 years ago from my Aunt and Uncle with only 47K miles on it. It is in great shape and it is fun to drive a car that only a select few are privileged to have. Drive on!
