I am in the prosses of putting my aurora back together and getting it road worthy. It thinks everything is hunky dory only one DCT error code having to do with the AC circuit, I have other ideas. It has been reluctant to start ever since I got it, cranking for a long time and acting like the fuel mixture is wrong (more so cold than warm). Once it starts it run fine, however, on the last test drive I noticed it was running hot, not red lining, but up there, and I have never seen the fans come on. Could a faulty ECT sensor be responsible for both problems? It was listed in the service manual as a probable cause of hard starting. I would like some more opinions before I change the sensor as it is well buried and I don't want to feed my car a needless diet of sockets and extensions (it has enough of those already ).

Okay, let's start with the fans... Disconnect the coolant reservoir level sensor (on the bottom of the tank) or just turn on the A/C. Doing either should turn on low speed fans. Got fans?
As for the hard start, have you cleaned the throttle body and IACV? A sticking IACV will cause hard cold starts but often "unsticks" itself and operate normally as things warm up. ...Only to stick again as everything cools down.
Not saying you're wrong, just starting with the easy stuff!

Yes turn ac on and fans should kick on low speed as a test. Make sure it's warm enough out for the compressor to kick on (43 deg I believe is the cut off). Long cranking can be a lot of things. Crank sensor comes to mind though I'd think you may get a code for that.

thanks for your help. I solved the hard start with a new fuel pump only problem is the retaining clips had completely disintegrated (I literally vacuumed them up) I will probably end up screwing it down. It turns out that the fans do work and, after I changed a questionable radiator hose, the temperature hovers around 200 degF which appears to be normal. I just discovered that it has the Autobahn package. Can't wait to get rid of the old gas and give it a proper test drive.
