Picked up a replacement ECM earlier but finding its location is vexing me. I unbolted the glove box and its loose, but hung up. I watched many clips to help find and familiarize myself to swap this out, but our Auroras needs can be elusive to research. Symptoms leading upto this diagnosis where poor shifting timing, RPM gauge misreading, abnormally long start up, misfiring and stalling out, and even refused to start once, I replaced a blown fuse & it started. Autozone advised me to replace ECM and plugs/wires also. If you ve done this before, please clue me in to where its at, any help appreciated! thx

Sorry I did nt include that. Mine is a 2001 V6 3.5l Under the steering column, behind the glovebox, and behind the drivers side headlight are a few of the internet forums 'answers' I found. I removed one out of a 99' V8 Aurora at a salvage yard from under the glovebox, but it seems the ECM is mounted somewhere else in the 2001 V6. the hunt continues!

It's in the airbox in the engine bay I'm fairly certain, where the air filter is for the engine.
I would think crank sensor from your symptoms but may as well try the PCM at this point.
I'm not 100% sure but you may need to get it programmed to your VIN to work. Don't quote me on that.

I nearly removed the air filter to have a look too; Im glad you guys responded, Im headed out to get eyes on now. One other symptom was a strong stink when it warms up, much like fireworks or sulfur. I ll call the dealership before installing it to see if it needs a flash too.

Good stuff RCA, 3 screws and the housing lifted to reveal my ECM. I knew taking apart the glovey and trim was premature but I wanted to find it lol. thanks so much! made my day. ▪︎Brett (Onyx)

The sulfur smell is your catalytic converters, but most likely due to the misfires you are having

FYI your registration has been approved. I apologize for the waiting period, we have been having a lot of problems with spambots lately.

FYI your registration has been approved. I apologize for the waiting period, we have been having a lot of problems with spambots lately. The tailpipes oozed dark smoke trails sharing Aurora flu with all. lol inside it was undetectable with environment control working perfect. Shes a good girl.

I dont think its PCM 98% sure possible other problem or short. I had 5 Auroras in my family plus 4 more of my friends and intrigues and not once I seen PCM failed . Most of the time it was bad ground or crank sensor or even bad battery ,.
