Recently one day I started up the 01 4.0 and the Temperature Gauge started to fluctuate back and forth from the half line to the line before the top line. I just had a oil change fluids are good and the car wasn’t even hot. I’m wondering could It be the thermostat, thermostat sensor, water pump or radiator?

As in it went to half and then full and back to half in a matter of seconds after starting the car?

My guesses.....the temperature sensor, the gauge itself, or bad grounding in the instrument cluster.

Once I pull off it raises so by the time I spin a block it’s full . I’ll stop at a traffic light and when I accelerate again it goes back to half and just does this through the process of driving

Does it do it with AC on or off? If u changed coolant maybe air in system or headgasket or clogged heater core bad water pump. can be many things.

It sounds like it could be a blown head gasket. But not to the point where you're getting white smoke out of the tailpipe. But it may be down the road. But as was mentioned before, it could be a bad temperature sensor, a bad gauge or it could be air trapped in the system.

Yeah I'd guess coolant temp sensor or the gauge itself is malfunctioning. You can hook up a scan tool that shows live data and see what temp it is displaying. I imagine if it was the gauge itself the coolant would display correctly numerically on the scan tool.
