My newest 2003 Final 500 Aurora just turned over 22,000 miles. I only drive it when it's nice out which sometimes means it sits for a month. During that time, the battery will drain down and not start. I have a new ACDelco battery in it, but it still needs charging quite often due to a drained battery. I'd like to add a battery shut-off switch under the hood near the fuse box. If I put a disconnect there, will there be other things draining the battery elsewhere or would that disconnect everything? Anyone else install something for this situation? Any input would be much appeciated.

depends how often you drive if you drive once in a blue moon the battery will drain it self anyway . if you drive every few month or so and battery still dies there is an issue with battery or car systems. My Aurora was sitting one time for 4 in half month and started right up with no battery disconnect.

Start it 2 or 3 days a week for about 20 minutes at a time.

When I purchased the ACDelco battery, the lady at the counter said her parents also have an Aurora and if they let it sit for a month, the battery will be dead. I was hoping a shut-off switch would be a logical solution.

I think you would have to put it to the connection under the seat for it to work as you're intending. I would invest in a battery tender instead. That's what I use for mine.

When I purchased the ACDelco battery, the lady at the counter said her parents also have an Aurora and if they let it sit for a month, the battery will be dead. I was hoping a shut-off switch would be a logical solution. Its deff the rule one month but real life can be different . I had this issue my self i got brand new battery Bosch. Than the car was driven for few days and that's it. after that it was in garage for 7 month. When i came to start the car Battey was dead once i jumped it in a day or so i started to see head light and tail light flicker every time i brake. speedometer would dim at random. I had to jump start the car every week. My mechanic said that most likely bad battery. I got a battery tester and yes he was right. He said if you put battery in a car and drive it once or twice after that he seen in lots of cases battery would die and no longer charge right. Warranty exchange fixed the issue and now car can seat for 3-4 month starts right up.
