great! on my 2nd gen, I went for a 17-inch Lucerne swap in the front and I was able to re-use the same brake hoses. Question: did it change the brake pedal travel/feel? Hard to say. The pedal seems mostly the same, although maybe it feels as if it requires less effort. As in pedal pressure similar to normal braking before brings the car to a stop quicker (less distance without more effort)

Just to note my CTS came with JL9 brakes stock. JE5 is an upgrade for the JL9. They should also fit 97+ models. There is also J55 too but not sure about them.

I'm running into issues with trying to do an upgrade on the rear brakes... I think I got mixed up back in summer 2018 when I bought a lot of these parts... I think what I have for the front is right (Grand Prix GXP parts) and they should bolt right on.
With the rear, I ordered some rear rotors that are super huge, they're for a Grand Prix GXP. I ordered several rear calipers... none of them will work with the rear GXP rotors... they're way thicker than the rotors for a Bonneville GXP/Impala/Lucerne (which are not vented or double thick like the fronts). I can't seem to find a bracket that will accommodate the rotors I bought... doesn't seem like there's a bracket out there that would work, and that I may have to try and find some smaller rotors (which would suck because I spent a bunch on these drilled GP GXP rotors...). Anyone have any ideas?

You have the GXP brackets and calipers? If it doesn't fit I'm not sure what would. It says in the beginning of the thread that it should. You may be looking at smaller rotors unfortunately. I only did Lucerne fronts so I'm not sure on the rears.

I've seen the vented rear discs for the GP/GXP, they're HUGE! (Overkill, lol!)
Agree with Rob, there IS a caliper that should bolt up, you just need the right part number... I almost hate to utter such blasphemy, but maybe call a dealership and ask...

At one point I think I had the GXP calipers and brakes, but the ones I had ordered weren't correct because they didn't have the right parking brake setup (from what I recall...). All the GXP calipers and brackets I look at don't appear to have the same mounting hole pattern... on our rear control arms, the 2-hole pattern to mount the caliper bracket is much smaller than the one the GXP caliper uses (which those mount directly to a knuckle on a rear strut on the GXP). That's what I can deduce from looking at all of the different parts available (Aurora, GXP, Lucerne/Impala, and many other GM cars too).

No one has mentioned what improvement is gained from the brake swap. I would think better performance under heavier use (less fade) but not stopping distance under normal demands. I think handling could be affected if the braking power of one axle increased out of proportion to the other.
