Does anyone besides me have an upgraded audio system or plan on getting one? If so, post what you have or have planned.

Not really, only because I love the 12 disc w/Acoustimass, however, a lot of ppl with upgrades have found that they loss the date feature on the DIC? Any idea on how to fix it? I did consider a ceiling mounted monitor tho

Everytime I have upgraded something audiowise in my car it seems to lead to more problems. Plus, I think I have outgrown that stage in my life. Beside I love the factory sound anyway! I don't know if its Bose tho?

The way to tell, is the base module in the back, a stock 10" rear deck mounted sub and 6 speakers. The head unit also has the automatic EQ settings and a 12 disc changer in the trunk... Good I love it

Those 2 lil tweets in the front are so "cute" according to my passengers of the softer gender I will check the RPO code of the Acoustimass systems and post it. Then you can cross reference your RPO list and see for sure!

You can tell if you have the Bose by looking at the main unit inside the car. If it has a "mute" button, it's the bose. If it has a "tone" button then it's not. According to my 1998 owner's manual, anyway.

Installing an Alpine CDA-9835 and a set of 12's this weekend. I bought a regular wiring harness but was told that I needed a harness for the bose amp. Does anyone know if this is true. As for losing the date I really don't mind because I wear a watch with the date and I leave it set to show me the mpg. Will probably be switching out the interior speakers as the money comes.

I have heard that you do need a specific harness for once the Bose is out. Not 100% sure tho. Everything is so wired together is these cars.

I would say that you do. In a car with am amp already built in (the factory bose uses an external amp to power all the speakers) you have to bypass that factory amp. That is why a special wiring harness is needed.
At least that is what I believe to be true.

I'm looking to put a set of components in the front doors and let the bose amp run them while disconnecting the rear speakers and sub. All I will have is a set of speakers and tweeters in the front doors and the subs in the trunk. Does anyone know what the speaker size is in the front doors...no biggy, I can ask the audio store tech.

is it possible to put subs in with the factory bose stuff (cd changer and front controls). i have two 12"s just laying around that i'd love to put in, but everywhere i call keeps telling me it's not possible without losing the back two speakers or getting an aftermarket cd player. anyone know what's up with that?

Well, i just bought my 98 Aurora Today(I'm sure it'll be a lot nicer than the Ford Taurus i just sold), ;D, heh, on the way back from the guy's house i bought it from, i stopped at best buy for the adapter to fit in the dash . i hear the battery is underneeth the rear seat? is it easy to run power wire to the trunk? This is what i'm going to put in tonight, Kenwood MPV-7300 deck, 2 Rockford Fosgate 12" HX2 Subs, Rockford Fosgate 1000bd amplifier, and a Rockford Fosgate 1 Farrad Capacitor with some 4 guage power and ground wire, and phoenix gold RCA cables ;D

Yeah, i don't know as if i'm happy with the Subs, i think i might go for some alpines, JL's, or possibly Kicker L7's after these start to go, i do like the amp though, its rated at 1136 watts RMS, rather than the 1000 that the minimum is for that amp.

I know from experience that you'll be happiest with the Alpine subs, reason being, is because they have no centercaps on the subs. Every sub I've ever bought has sounded good at first, but then the vibrate loosens the center cap (especially in MTX subs) and then you will hear terrible vibrations from your subs. Not good! So, if you get Alpine, the good sound will last longer. ALTHOUGH, I must say that I DO have a FOSGATE AUDIONICS HOME AUDIO powered-subwoofer with a 15" sub in it that has knocked the showerhead off the bathroom wall on the other end of the house! It is HUGE, HEAVY, and will tear up the Paradigm 15" comparison sub. So anyways, with CAR audio and not HOME audio, go with Alpine over Rockford or MTX.

ugh, well, i still haven't been able to get my deck in, i ordered what i thought was the harness off of ebay, and it came with the male end, which is what plugs into the factory stereo, and what i needed was the female end, grr.... for those who have bought harnesses for this car, where did you get them?

circuit city has a ROADSHOP install shop that can custom order anything for you. Including VERY NICE decks that are FACTORY GM SIZE. They have a nice Alpine one thats all black, flush mount GM size with crome trim on the knobs.

Very nice! I like the look of the tweeters in the door. As an aside, the stock 12 disc changer is apparently built by Pioneer and labelled as Delco Electronics.
No seat warmers Javi?
