The other day I hooked up subs in my car and everything was working great (except the steering wheel controls) and the next day when I started my car my amp would not turn on and the volume knob was acting up. I did not cut any wires all I did was use an RCA adapter that has a few wires that splice into the factory wiring for the cd player. Now I lost the steering wheel controls and when I turn the volume up or down it is like it is delayed. If I take everything out will these problems be solved? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would think the problems would solve themselves. In the mean time, check for blown fuses as you may have inadvertanly have grounded a wire. Or, better yet, check the adapter and make sure no two wires are touching eachother. Also, check the same on the amp. I have had always had problems arise when I installed aftermarket stereo suff in my car(s). Good Luck in locating the problem!

How will these problems solve themselves? I am going to go check all the fuses and wires and see if that is the problem. Hopefully I can fix something. Thanks for the help

sometimes with a high to low level converter, if you cross the wires on one side but not the other, it acts up.

olds, what are the details on your setup that was having problems (i.e. what kind of equipment, how much extra wiring, etc.)? How did you have the necessary wires "spliced" in? Often a bad connector or splice can cause all kinds of things to act up.

Right now I have 3 10" MTX's and a Directed 1100D amp. I used a monster cable wiring kit. Ground wire, remote turn on wire, RCA cable and power cable. Everything was hooked up right I'm pretty sure. I took everything out so the problems are gone which is a good thing. Next time I put subs in I am going to put in an Alpine deck and 2 Alpine Type R 12's with the same amp.

Oh, I thought we were talking subs in a factory headunits set up. What you spend on the Type R's go with the JBL Power DVC setups. I promise you'll be more satisfied. (if you get 10's with these subs, ill give you my box plans, i hit 143.3 dB with 2 10s in this box)
