Has anyone replaced their headlight bulbs with Silverstar Bulbs. I want to get a brighter light but not sure if $27.00 Can. is worth per bulb.

I have em, and love em, however the issue is life span, mine last 11 months (left) and 12 months (right) far to short for $30 bulbs.
Chances are, I will buy another set tho when they blow, they are that good.

I didn't want to pay $120 for all 4 silverstars, and I couldn't decide whether to put a pair in the high beams or low beams, so I bought 4 Cool Blues instead. They're half the price and still show a distinct improvement over the regular bulbs. If the silverstars are even better I might get some later when I have some spare money. The Cool Blues aren't blue, but they're a lot whiter than the regular bulbs, you can see better and they look better.

By the way - did you know you can get silverstar signal lamp bulbs? I don't know if they're available in Canada or not (or how spendy they are), they normally look blue but are amber when lit.

Thanks Guys! Dred98, I stopped by a Parts Source Store in St. Catharines, (ont.) this morning (was not sure if it was a Canadian Tire Store or not. They carry a lot of Can. Tire stuff )They had a dispaly case going with Silverstars and regular lights. The Silverstars did quite an improvement. They said that they used to compare them with the Nighthawk Bulbs and even there the Stars were the choice. But they said that the cool blues are not a bad choice either. And they are about $14.00 So I'm still not sure of which ones. but we'll keep lookin into it.

Here is what i did: eBay. Silverstars are great. Trust me, I have them in my 85 IROC but they are too spendy. To replace low, high and fog you are looking at a ton of money. So I searched the endless "super white" bulbs on ebay and came across this HiLite brand. I got a combo pack that included: lows, highs & fogs for $40. They are well worth it. I am very happy with them and they are very similar to Silverstars. Here is where is bought mine: stores.ebay.com/CarShowGuys-Xenon-HID-Store_W0QQdptZ0QQsclZallQQtZkmSo there you have it.

I like my silverstars.. they are definately brighter than stock and they help give the aurora a luxury car look. (it is a luxury car but it makes it look like it even more so.) I haven't decided on their longetivity yet though.. I've had 4 burn out in a year. (each headlight bulb from each low beam and high beam has burned out once. each burned out a week within each other.)

I haven't decided on their longetivity yet though.. I've had 4 burn out in a year. This is why I won't buy them... I've heard too many Silverstar short-life stories, which should not be a pattern at ALL for a bulb that expensive. Maybe I'll try those ebay knock-offs, since someone here has had success with a certain brand.

I heard about the Silverstar 9006, but nah, I decided to go with an HID kit instead, you really get the bright white light out put there.
I do have the 3157's Silverstars for my front turn signals, which gives it that cool look.
But for the ultimate light experince, you have to go with an H.I.D. kit, it's worth the money.

Which HID kit did you go for in your Aurora (Phillips, etc?), how much did you pay and how long did it take to install?

Which HID kit did you go for in your Aurora (Phillips, etc?), how much did you pay and how long did it take to install? I have a HELLA HID kit, which makes also the OEM Philips HID lighting systems found today on many luxury vehicles out there. I found fmine for about $400.00 US dollars, it was a real plug and play kit, if you can change a light bulb in your car, you can install an HID kit. [glow=red,2,300]Javi.[/glow]
