Newbie question here... what is the difference between 95-97 models and 98-99 models? I'm just now shopping for a used Aurora, so I'd be good info to have. Thanks!

Cosmetically and appearance wise...nothing. The belt buckles are plastic with orange release buttons instead of the traditional GM metal buckle , the mirror has a compass in it. Under the hood, the throttle body is a bit different. I cant think of many differences, others will pipe up I'm sure

There were suspension changes for 1997, and I believe again in 1998. Also in 1997 or 1998, the front brakes grew from ~11.5" to 12". Of course 1995 was OBD-I and 1996 was OBD-II. I heard there was a small change to the rear glass in 1996 to reduce distortion, but that could be crap. I'd personally look for a 1998 or 1999 if I were shopping for one, but hey, I'm just a new-style owner...

Also I believe that the 97's started putting Aurora by Oldsmobile on the decklid. And yes the rear glass was redesigned because of customer complaints. it took effect for 96.

They didn't put Oldsmobile on the car until the 2nd gen cars in 2001, The only place a classic has the Oldsmobile name is on the radio. I have a '98 and the rear window still distorts anyone behind you, those lopsided cars took a little while to get used to.

That's one of my only complaints about the car. The cars behind you look short and fat in the rearview. Sort of like a funhouse mirror. I'd grab a 98-99. Fewer miles, more standard options. Is standard options an oxymoron?

No issues with my rear glass...hrmmm Sounds like the guy in Cannonball Run - busted off the rear view mirrors because it didn't matter who was behind him, the people in front were the only ones he cared about.
