I think I've decided my audio upgrade for the Aurora. For the front speakers I'll go with Infinity Kappa 6 1/2" Components. I was thinking about the Infinity Kappa Perfects but they're too expensive for me right now. (They have an MSRP of $550.) For the rears I'll go with Infinity Kappa 6x9 2 ways and for bass an Infinity Basslink. Haven't decided on an amp yet for the front and rear speakers but it'll probably be a Pioneer with around 60-80 W RMS per channel. I'll be using the stock headunit just for the reason that the stock unit is decent and I want a stealth install to where you can't even tell I have expensive stereo equipment in the car. Sweeeet, keep the ol "sleeper effect" in full force! Passengers will probably be blown away thinking that your system is stock. ;D Looks like a great setup; be sure to take pics of the install!

Where are you planning to buy this stuff at just outa curiousity one other thing, the classics use 6.75" round speakers for the front, i'm just wondering if the 2nd gen uses the same. edit: i just checked crutchfield.com and it says that 6.75" rounds speakers, it also says that 5.25" speakers work to for some reason. also, here are some kappa perfects for around 200 bux (brand new), cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32819&item=5753985333&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

the second gen does use 6 3/4" as well. Some companies say it's 7" though. Same thing basically though. crutchfield says that 5.25's will fit because they do.. with an adapter bracket You also need an adapter bracket to get a 6 1/2" to fit because it is 1/4" too small for the factory opening. I would go with the perfects but they require a whole lot of power to sound good, and I"ve heard that they're much much harder to install than the regular Kappas due to the fact that their motor structure is so big. They're really a lot like a subwoofer in build, just smaller.

Sounds great! Everyone I know who use Infinity in their car is very satisfied as well as I. My opinion though(and this is just my opinion) Pioneer has average quality amps and if you are putting high quality speakers in your car they will sound much better with high a quality amp. I'm pretty sure Infinity has last year's models of amps on clearance right now or I'm sure you can find a deal on ebay. I'm only telling you this because I have a 600 watt Pioneer amp going to my Alpine R series 6X9s and it sounds mediocre compared to the rest of my system.

anyone ever put in aftermarket tweeters? or front speakers? do they make a difference? it makes a huge difference. anything you put in aftermarket will sound better than the stock system. Think of it this way. The speakers GM put in the Aurora only cost them about $2 each. How great of quality are they? You can buy a replacement speaker from GM for only $40. They are extremely low quality.

Ok, now let's say I wanna do this. First, is it a DIY or would it be too hard? I was thinking getting just the front 6-1/2 and rear 6x9 to begin with. Then if needed some amp and sub. If it is DIY what else do I need to get...besides the speakers obviously...and the brackets for the front ones. Also I have no idea how to take the door panels off of the doors. Custom, if you did it, could you please point out some directions? Thanks
