definately can't wait. the stock aurora system has left me miserable for the past few months so it's time for an upgrade. I just need to have a good sounding system in my car. I'm not looking for something loud, or full of bass, but I want awesome sound quality. The Infinities I've chosen fit the bill. Life-Like reproduction of sound. Very excited.

the rear fill will be Infinity Kappa 2-way 6x9's. all speakers will be amped. I think I'm going to just keep the factory headunit for now so the car looks totally stock. aftermarket cd players attract unwanted attention too much. If the sound isn't great with the stock cd player I'll probably change it out.

The rear 6x9's on my 2001 (non-bose) have plenty of bass, not a lot of treble (but that's not what they're for), and they really do a good job of filling in the sound throughout the car in my opinion.. am I wrong?

the rear 6x9's aren't bad. although they do distort if you put the bass at anything over +2 on the headunit. I usually have mine set to 0 because all four speakers start distorting easily. I didn't buy the 6x9's for the aurora anyway. I had them in my last car. I have to take my rear deck apart because of a huge annoying rattle, so while I have it apart I might as well swap the Infinities in.

I used Pioneer TS-A6981R in the rear and Pioneer TS-A1681R in the front. For lower end speakers I could not believe the diff. With what you are going with it should be just like being in the band!

The replacement rears i used gave me MUCH more base (no sub needed) and opened the midrange and treble far better than the stocks.

Especially with a lower powered stock system, the best way to increase bass is to decrease treble, then turn up the volume a bit. Adding an artificial bass boost from the tone control really stresses a small amp and increases distortion. The signal will be reproduced more accurately by shelving down the treble.
I like your plan custom. If you have to choose, its always better to improve quality in audio systems before quantity.

I keep the tone controls just above their center detent. nice even balance though the spectrum. I suppose if i had better speakers I could leave the output flat; 'just need very little compensation to get the even response.
no ricer window ratling for me.

Cool, Let me wipe the drool away. Are those 6 1/2's or 6 3/4's?

they're 6 1/2's. the Aurora supposedly is 6 3/4" but I've tried putting 6 1/2's in the doors before and they fit fine. Hopefully these fit alright too without brackets. I don't have any.. Scotty, I got the basslink back about a month ago actually. I might of forgotten to post about it. Infinity ended up not fixing it for me.. they just sent me a new one! Very pleased. The replacement's been going great for a couple of weeks now. The basslink is a real performer for how small it is.

Hmm, yeah i put 6.5's in mine, i just made my own brackets for mine.
as for bass with my 6x9's, with no amplifier, i was kind of disapointed because they weren't quite as good as the stock ones, but they sound so much cleaner, besides i have subs for bass.
those speakers look gorgeous though, they should be a very nice addition to your car. i wish i would've gotten an extra tweeter with mine though, but i can adjust the position of it on the speaker.

Those speakers look really cool. Should make a world of difference from stock.
I have been having a hard time deciding what speakers to get in mine. I wish i could sample some before i buy them. I dont even play my radio anymore cause of how much my stockers suck.

Sup guys if your speakers are distorting when base is up it might not be the speaker its usually that the stock radio doesnt have the power to push those speakers . Best sound comes from a tuner reciever that sends input to good quality Amp then goes to speakers . Which could get pricy as tuners are more expensive then the amp and wiring but you could try and wire it up your self also save the money . I had a 98 and installed a clarion top of the line tuner and Hifonics Zeus ( 300w ) I think with Rockford fosgate speakers origional size replacements , it sound like a concert in there . Il tell u quick story the speaker guys didnt have my speaker of choice which Is Boston Acoustics so they put Rocford Fosgate Disk speakers in with the same tuner and amp I mentioned . I got in turned it on and said its crap get it out the man thought I was nuts but I know my sound I told him after almost geting phyical with him he agreed to put in my next speaker of choice which was RP higher line and he said that was it how it sounds is what i get I agreed . When all was changed I told him to turn it on he was in disbelief that he was in the same car and the same tuner and amp was used. He apologized and told me my ears were better than hes. Im just saying everybody wants to make a buck is all how they dont know so think for yourself . When it comes to sound its very tricky but if youre very pic get a tuner (reciever) with good quality amp , garbage speakers will sound good then ( not really u will send them out the doors ).But if you like base Rockford fosgate amps are good for 8" to 12" and for clarity plus base Hifonics ,sony , basickly clarity comes at higher price . Got any questions on combinations you want for you r car Id be glad to help email me Il give you the run down . Im not a pro just had many systems and been riped of at 16 years old my first time so Id be glad to spare you Aurora guys and gals the headaches . You dont know what sounds bad in your car till you hear good in it so its easy to have poor sound and be happier than stock .

power won't be an issue. I'm running 150W RMS to each speaker. Usacoustics amp... the 6x9's will be running on 80x2 RMS as well.
