I don't, but I wish I did... back windows anyway. Too expensive at this point for a professional job. I've thought about attempting it myself, but I don't want to waste money on tint if I mess it up and have to remove it.

I have factory tint on mine, but I need more. The tint doesn't block any sun ( There is factory tint, isn't there?

The factory tint is just a standard UV protectant. I personally dislike tinting, it makes cops nervous.

I may be paranoid but I need to see everything that's going on around me when I drive my Aurora, I agree with this, dark tint can easily impede driver vision. I had black limo tint all around on a previous car of mine ('73 Buick Electra 225), and it looked cool but there was more than one occasion when I almost hit a pedestrian or bicyclist I didn't see at night. That's why I don't want tint up front, which is illegal anyway in IL (for any vehicle manufactured after 1981).

well, im thinking of it, its $125 all around. In FL its 20 in the front, 30 or 35 in the rear. But of course they'll tint it as dark as you like...my wife says it looks better w/out tints, the only thing I like about not having tints is you can see the awesome interior... Im just wondering if I do tint, should I go limo dark, legal dark, or a smoky black, to where you can still see inside. My dream would be to give my Aurora a DEEP gloss black paint job, paint all chrome blk (or leave as is), and pitch dark tints to match....to give the Aurora a stealthy look, and of course some chrome wheels, and rumbling exhaust. I might drop by a tint shop to see if they have some samples on glass...my wife said in any case go with mirrored tints....

OK, a couple things here if ya'll will bear with me. One, could somebody kindly give a short primer on type of tints, prices, and best type of business to get them tinted at? Just general stuff for someone who's never tinted a window. I'd love to get a moderate tint but don't want to look like an idiot when I shop around. (Yeah, yeah, I know it's a tall order not making me look like an idiot, but would you give it a try?)
Two, would it be possible for JimW and everyone else not to post humongous pics that then make the text hard to read as you have to scroll around every post to read it. Around 600x300 seems to fit just right. Or is there a way this digital dislexic can easily change the web page size to make it all fit on a window without scrolling? This comes under the not looking like an idiot point made above.
Third, the pics are a little fragezzi with the before showing the car all dirty and the after with a newly washed clean car with chrome wheels. I'm sure you were just digging up what pics you had lying around for an example. No biggy but I noticed. But what I really wanted to ask about was the before pic. It looks really, really cold there, is that Canada?

There are options in both I.E. and Nutscrape preferences which allow you to resize images to fit the browser window. Neither of which seem to work (for me anyway). Ace Explorer and Avant Browser I'm not sure. My screen resolution is at 1024 * 768 and I go (more) cross-eyed when there is a page to navigate with a long URL.

Thnx for the help guys. erw the site you listed has info on ceramic window tints that look really cool. Anybody have experience with them? My GF says all film tints peal off and all sprayed on tints scratch. What's the scoop here? The site also gave a chart with all state laws. NJ says no tint on front side windows, which would be the whole freekin' reason for tinting. As I want a very minimal tint, any idea on enforcement of these laws? Isnibs, thanks for the support. I also searched the I.E. help file with no luck, just tells me how to resize my toolbar. Someday I may find the answer.

I found in Internet Exploder,
Internet Options --- Advanced ---- Multimedia ---- Enable Automatic Image Resizing.
But still SOL. My poor mouses ball gets really hot and difficult to manipulate around big piccys, long URL's and the resulting long text.

That is a very generous offer Steven. Thankyou but no thankyou. At the moment my better half and I share two computers. A 1.7 pentium and the 486 (Of course I nearly always get stuck with the 486 as my wife has an online shop). The point is that down stairs there are some mysterious computer boxes hidden in the basement and my wife has assured me that if I don't get put on the naughty list that Santa will bring me something nice, so it looks like I will get a good puter for Xmas. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Again thankyou. Maybe erw38 could find a good home for it.

yeah, that or raffle it, or auction it off.
Mine isn't a 486, but it crashes more then a crash-test-dummy.
So if your feelin generous, id give it a new home with open arms. ;D

Just had my side and rear windows tinted last Thursday! I love it!!
Went with 38% all the way around. It's the darkest Wisconsin will allow for the front. I thought about Limo tint for the back, but my dad said I should keep it all uniform rather than dark in the back and lighter in the front. Boy am I glad I listened to him. The tint on my BlackButy looks awesome!!
The guy that did mine had to make a block for the back window due to the dots around the window. It looked so good, my dad didn't even notice. He thought it was just part of the car. I couldn't be happier!
As soon as our weather decides to clear up a bit, I'll get some pics on here!

As long as you have 35% in the front, you are within legal limits. Back windows and rear glass can be as dark as you want in Ontario.

I'm leaving for the carwash now, I'll get some posted as soon as I get back.
Realize though, that i have 38% tint, not 35%. I think JimW has the 35% tint which would be a bit darker than mine.
Also, I have a "new" tint on mine that is very lightly reflective or mirrored. They gaurantee no fading! Pretty cool!
Be back in a little while!

In Wisconsin the front window needs to be 50% and all the rest can be 35%. So your front windows are actually illegal. Where in Wisconsin do you live?

I think the difference between 35% and 38% is far to hard to tell. In different light levels 35% looks black...so, I wouldnt worry.
Mp, I know you wanted pics, I will post later tonight, gotta run for now....there is a huge difference in looks though.

I have had 2 cars done by the same business here, and I would think they would know the law. (or at least I hope they know the law). The company that did mine is called Maverick Graphics in Shawano. They do all kinds of custom graphics and such, and are really very reputable. They informed me when I had my Bonny done that it was 38% for the front, so I went all the way around with it. Did the same now with my Aurora.
Sorry, I didn't get the pics yet, too cold to wash the car.
I will post them as soon as I can get it washed.
