The 96-99 wheels are specced at 16" X 7", 5 LUG, 115m wheels.
They seem to be to the same as the 2001?
Will these fit on a 2001 Aurora?

I believe the classic had 16x7.5" wheels, didn't it? Not 16x7"? I think the 2001+ 16" wheels are only 7" wide, as they had 225's, not 235's like the classic.

Sorry if I didn't specify - my Aurora 2001 is the 3.5 - it came with 16" wheels and I want to know if I can put on 16" chromees from a 99

You can safely put 225s on a 7.5 inch rim

I've got my 4 aluminum alloy 16" wheels from my '99, that are for sale if you're interested... although I see you're looking for chromes, and I can't blame you there!

Standard wheels on the classic are 16" x 7" with 235's. Huh, how about that? So I guess the new Aurora wheel grew .5" in each direction. Onehunglow, I believe there were chrome 16's available for the 2001-2002 Aurora. And you could also get your wheels chromed, which might be cheaper than buyinig a new set. I kinda like the newer 16" better with the hard edge on each spoke and the carbon fiber accent on the center cap.

I could get my aluminum wheels 'chromed' Really? I wonder how much that would cost and what kind of company does that. Has anyone had that done?

Heheh, yeah man! Chrome wheels are really aluminum with a surface of chrome. They aren't solid chrome or anything. So places will strip the clearcoat off, prep the wheel and dip it in chrome (or however it's applied). Then viola, chrome rim.

...and they charge $378.50 PER RIM (1,514 total) to do it!!
The price of used chrome rims...

I can't quite follow their exhange price thing, but it looks like it'd be roughly $650 to exhange yours for chrome. And if you got them outright it was only $327 per wheel after the shipping and the 4-wheel discount.

Oh, and if you could be without the wheels for a week or so, you could probably find a place that does chroming and maybe get it a little cheaper. Though $650 isn't bad, it's an $800 option when you buy the Aurora new.

onehunglow, I regularly see Classic chromes on ebay for ~$400. If you're patient go that way and save yourself some money. You could go a step further and recoup some of the cost by selling your wheels back on ebay.
