I know you're probably thinking what kind of thread is this going to be with a title of 0000000. Well, today on the way to work all digital displays were displaying all zeros and my analog gauges also fell to zero. All lights were on (warning lights), on the instrument cluster at the same time as well. The radio display was all zeros, the DIC displayed all zeros, the trip meter, and odometer were also all zeros. This lasted for about 5 seconds then everything came back on. My Average gas mileage read 0.01 and did not move at all (It had previously been reading around 26 MPG average). The instant gas mileage stayed at 0 too after the gauges came back and the warning lights went off. The gas mileage did not work until I shut the car off, and turned it back on. The oil change % also was now at 0 where it had been 49% previously. anyone have any idea what happened here? It was definately pretty freaky having all the displays whack out like that except for the climate control, which worked o.k. and never showed any problems. it was just the instrument cluster, radio, and DIC that went wacky on me. I would take it into the dealer but I doubt they'd even find anything since it happened only this one time. the car remained running during all of this too, just all the systems went wonky on me.

Is there a chance your battery was low on power? I had something similar to me happen once, after having the ingition turned on for awhile (with the engine off)... the battery the DIC numbers went all wacky, and only about half of them came back to normal after the engine started. I speculate that the battery was almost dead, and my electrical systems went a little nutty for a few seconds when the engine was turning over.

I had the same problem with my 3.5. Fortunately disconnecting/reconnecting the battery solved the problem.

that's really wierd that even your analog things like your trip, and odometer went to zero, did they also go back? The odo is digital on the 2001+. Also, no gauges are really analog. They have needles, but are driven by a little motor that is fed by the PCM. It's completely digital.

yes. Most of the higher-end GM models have had electronically controlled gauge clusters since 1986. None of the cars I have owned had mechanical gauges, including my 1988 LeSabre.
