I know someone has posted about this problem once before but I cannot find the post. I just reached into my trunk to get something and realized that the carpet was wet. I took the cover off of the spare tire, and there it was. About 4 inches of standing water. It covered the spare tire! Can someone please point me in the direction of the posts where this was discussed before?

The problem for mine was that the sunroof had managed to work its way out of position, and was letting water in. The drainage system was being overwhelmed or had a leak in the back, and that was letting the water into the trunk. So when this happens check your sunroof to make sure it is flush with the top of the car.
