This is the second time my "low coolant" light has come on. However, that's over 3 years and 27k miles. Just wondering if anyone else has had that happen. The sensor must be real high up in the reservoir, though, as each time it took about 8-12 ounces of coolant/water to bring it back to full. Not exactly a lot. I think I'll change it when the weather warms up.

I got the low coolant warning only once in my 2001 4.0, about a week after I got it 4 years ago. I added less than a pint, and it's been fine in that area ever since. _______________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

The first time mine came on was shortly after purchase too. Way to go on the PDI guys...

40-
My '01 had the same issue. I eventually noticed a bad thermostat gasket which was replaced by the dealer under warranty. Keep a good look-out in that area!

A friend that works at a local repair shop told me that dexcool has a tendency to literally dissapear. He said the majority of the time no leaks of any kind are found, yet most dexcool-running cars require a top-off. The problem is evidently so common that the shop made it a point to check the coolant level on any newer GM vehicle.

my low collant light came on shortly after buying my 02 as well. opened up the resevoir to top it off...and sure enough...its not even dex-cool in it! the dealership had topped it off with some of that universal yellow crap, messed everything up..thank god for a warranty! to me its not that hard to just match red with red or green with green...but apparently to some people it is...-sigh-
