Well, I just had to take my '03 into the stealership for a pretty bad coolant leak. When I started up this morning, The DIC lit up and said LOW COOLANT. I popped up the hood and sure enough, there was just a bit of coolant in the overflow. On my way to the dealership, the fan for the climate control started making a horrendous noise. So my baby is at the doctor's office to get repaired and since it is still under warranty, they gave me a rental car. I've got a new '05 Buick Allure. You know, if GM does not get it's act together, they deserve to go under. This thing is supposed to compete with the likes of Camry's and Accords?? I'm not the biggest fan of imports but if this is what replaced the Regal/Century/LeSabre, Buick won't last long either and will be joining Oldsmobile.

I know about the article. It's unfortunate that they can build a car that looks nice from the outside and drives quite nice but the interior is very bland. The ergonmics are ok but there is nothing that stands out for me to say WOW! Just my 2 cents.
BRING BACK OLDS!!!!

Got my car back last night. Turns out the tech had a heck of a time finding the leak which ended up being the pressure cap, the blower noise was a bit of foam insulation that somehow was touching the fan's blade. She's good as new and I missed her. The Allure (LaCrosse) I had drove nice but I tell you, GM dropped the ball on the interior. It was the same for a Pontiac SV6 I rented in Vancouver a couple months back.

That's a shame, because it looks nice from the outside, and if you opt for the 3.6L in the CXS, must be pretty spirited as well.

I thought the Lacrosse was a nice car when I looked at them. The interior quality is high IMO. Higher than the Aurora. It just felt like a solid, well built vehicle to me. Glad to hear you got the Aurora back and better than ever.

Thank goodness for warranties. From the amount of time it took those "professional" mechanics to find the problem, you would've paid all kinds of exploratory labor charges otherwise!

Glad to hear you got the Aurora back and better than ever. Agreed. I thought the LaCrosse had a great interior. It is truly much better than any GM interior before. Ditto for the new minivans, the new Chevy Impala, and the Cadillac STS.

Our '03 displayed Low Coolant for a few minutes just yesterday. Went away and levels looked fine when we eventually got home. Will see what happens next.
Coincidentally, our Intrigue had a low-coolant problem too. Turned out that the little hose in the overflow tank was missing, so coolant was not getting back into the system. No wonder the tank was always full! The previous owner must have missed the problem and kept filling up the overflow tank. Anyway, Advanced Auto Parts donated a piece of hose that I attached--problem fixed.

Turns out the stealership did not fix the problem. There has been a couple of small puddles of coolant on my driveway over the weekend which kinda sucks since I spent 4 hours washing, and waxing my '03. She sure looks per-ty all nice and clean and armor-alled. It's going back in this week to get looked at and to get the tires rotated and oil changed. I'll keep everyone posted.

The Allure was pretty quick. I never did see what it could do but it rode like a Buick but the interior was very plain but then it was a base model, some options would probably dress it up considerably. I might be getting another one for a rental later this week when I take my car in.

Next year Buick is supposed to be coming out with a new model LaCerne (sp?. It is built on the same frame as the Cadillac CTS. This model should be on the same caliber as the Aurora. We'll see?

So my car is back at the stealership today to get the coolant leak looked at again, and guess what, the water pump was leaking. It was ordered in yesterday and while it was there I'm having the oil changed (I put 11 000 km's on it and the oil life meter was at 40%), oh yeah that's about 6875 miles. I don't want to run it that long again before an oil change, oil life meter or not. I'll stick to my usual 8000k's or about 5000 miles. That seems to be fine for my driving habits. Also, there was some moulding coming loose on the roof on the passenger side running the length of the roofline. They are going to look at that as well.

Oh yeah, the loaner they gave me is an '05 Cavalier that is BASE!! No power windows or locks on this baby! At least it has air but I tell you, it's not a very nice car whatsoever. A base Civic is nicer.

Just picked'er up. Here's the list: water pump, thermostat, water pump thermostat housing cracked, and the gaskets. My cost: $0 (thank god for warranties). Also the moulding on the roof was refitted and now looks great. So we'll see if there are any leaks coming from the front of the engine now. To think, last time they said it was from a faulty pressure cap (I had a hard time believing it but I went along with it).
