;Dwell it's hot in the midwest and the air conditioning just didn't seem to be cooling. I had a 12 oz can of refrigerant and added to the low side of the compressor. The cooling now is extremely cold. Any chance I overcharged the system? The pressure rating on the low side is betwwen 45-50 psi.

Get it checked out professionally. If it is leaking, you'll end up doing a heck of a lot of damage if you let it go empty for a while. It's worth the 40-50 bucks. The receiver/dryer should also be changed if your system went dry. A buddy of mine's family has a cooling system shop in Toronto so I'm fairly knowledgeable about things relating to cooling and A/C. Did you add R-134-A or the old stuff R-12??

According to the 2001 shop manual, 45 - 50 lbs on the low side is OK when outside temperatures are in the 80* to 90* range. BTW, low side pressure can get to 70 lbs with an outside temp of 120*. _________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

Charged with R-134-A. Only topped off the system, it was, moderately, cooling before and was holding pressure. The system seems to running just fine now but I guess I should have it checked.
