Welcome Paulette, glad you have you here. I have never heard of a dealer or mechanic putting an aftermarket cover on an engine before. In fact I have never seen an Aurora aftermarket cover... Its probably marked up with schmutz from dirty hands or something..lol... Do you want an aftermarket cover (you may have to make one yerself) or you need a new one?

Thanks for the welcome...no actually I must of had an aftermarket cover cause the one they threw on is not the same one it had raised letters and the one they threw on is the stock cover...My hubby just got home now I know I am not losing my mind...he says it isn't the same cover at all...but every other aurora I see on teh web under the hood is the same cover as the one they threw on. I guess I have to keep searching I bought the car used so maybe it is off another year aurora?

Hi all, I am still fighting with the garage that has my engine cover...I called the dealership where I had purchased her and asked to see if they had purchased the cover after they bought the car at auction. The one they put on looks as though they got it off a junk yard car. It is bothering me so bad that they deny that this is the wrong cover I am literally haveing like anxiety attacks over it i get teh shakes and so worked up I know when I would pop the hood I would look at it and not help but smile and now i look and get so upset cause it looks sooooo nasty. I have tryed to view other year engine covers cause even though this is the "proper" cover for the year(cept the junk yard variety)on here the proper cover wasn't on the car when i purchased it so I am starting to think that what was on there was a different year and so far i am thinking 95-99 has just about the same cover as far as looks...so I have yet to find one. Thanks for listening to me gripe like a crazy woman. It does help to vent

Thank you! I hope I get it straightened out it is driveing me bonkers...there is even pieces of weld down around the bolts and teh bolts are showing where i had teh tops on them before...somethign else that isn't right is the hood isn't lined up right then I got to thinking ok why would they need to take my hood off? It isn't neccessary to take the hood off and then I really started thinking to much like omg what did they do just intirely swap engines? That is crazy...lol..now I do know the cover is wrong but I know I am probably goin to far when i think omg what if this is a different engine?lol they did have it over there for a week...hmmm...LOL Anyways, I hope you all have a good holiday weekend! Ill update if I ever get thru to the morons at the garage

See that looks more like it...over the weekend I went in again and talked to the owner on one occasion then went back cause that night the garage guys were already gone..I went back wed. and spoke to the service manager not the service managers like in the office doin invooices and not the head mechanic type manager cause they refer to them as managers too this one is hidden in a office where noone can se him well anyways they can't give me what I had on there they have to give me the 95 engine cover and they ordered it new so at least they aren't makeing me keep this one that looks as though they used it as a creeper a couple times across the floor...so even though it won't be the "same" as I had I can finally ;D...thanks for everyones help

See that looks more like it... The cover I posted is more like it? Or the service you are getting is more like it? If that's the cover, this is a 2001+ cover. I'm surprised it fit on your car without needing some trimming or something.

That cover looked more like it. I figure that is probably why I ended up with a bogus cover because the dealership that i purchased the car at probably had it about stuck on there which makes sence that the garage i have been getting service done at probably broke it removeing it..But didn't want to admit they broke it and being that I am a girl and figured I wouldn't notice under the hood..they could just get a away without haveing to write it up under a garage expense to buy me a new one to replace it...I still don't know what was up with the weld shaveings around the bolts that one still has me puzzled. But hey I guess I finally got what i was wanting and that was a descent cover to replace my old one...see if I am not mistakeing i think that newer style cover was on sideways like the aurora read from the side not the front of the car...you know what i mean? Oh well it is over thank god! I was getting so upset by their remarks of it being the same one i had on and i knew better-I am just goin to have to play the waiting on the part game now. ;D

So bizarre that your dealer would install a 2001+ engine cover on a classic Aurora...do the bolt holes even match up Meh...in the summer its best to go without the engine cover ;D

Meh...in the summer its best to go without the engine cover ;D It's possible the cover keeps radiant heat away from the intake manifold rather than keeping it in... It certainly increases the intake volume to remove it, though (which seems like something you would do )...
